U.S. Suicide Rate Surges to a 30-Year High

WASHINGTON — Suicide in the United States has surged to the highest levels in nearly 30 years, a federal data analysis has found, with increases in every age group except older adults. The rise was particularly steep for women. It was also substantial among middle-aged Americans, sending a signal of deep anguish from a group whose suicide rates had been stable or falling since the 1950s.

The suicide rate for middle-aged women, ages 45 to 64, jumped by 63 percent over the period of the study, while it rose by 43 percent for men in that age range, the sharpest increase for males of any age. The overall suicide rate rose by 24 percent from 1999 to 2014, according to the National Center for Health Statistics, which released the study on Friday.

The increases were so widespread that they lifted the nation’s suicide rate to 13 per 100,000 people, the highest since 1986. The rate rose by 2 percent a year starting in 2006, double the annual rise in the earlier period of the study. In all, 42,773 people died from suicide in 2014, compared with 29,199 in 1999.

My guess about the 240% increase in suicide among 10-14 year old white girls is 1)break up of families due to financial stress or 2) internet bulling by their peers once thought of as friends. I don’t believe that it would be a result of these young girls learning that their future will be limited financially, they don’t think that far ahead. It also may have something to do with cheap heroin and accidental overdoses.

Just 3 days ago I had a friend from high school, age 45, kill themselves. We’re still all in shock but she was having a really hard time after a divorce. But we never thought it would come to this.

In my experience I see women basically assuming traditional male roles, and they don’t seem to like it. They want money from a job, but they don’t want the long hours that often requires. As they age and there is no end in sight (facing, as many others are, no chance of retirement due to financial limitations), they despair.

My thoughts eggsactly! PC could be described as, among other things, simply the doubling down of Communism to apply it not just to Communism, but everything else; e.g., race, sex, sexual preference; etc. The result of all this is The Snapping of the American Mind. Have to ask did any one think to find out how many of these women are on anti-depression drugs, all of them have a higher suicide rate than those who don’t use them. Several other non anti-depression drugs like Lyrica also have a higher than normal suicide rate than those who don’t take them. More drugs are on the list too.

These drugs are not just used to treat anti-depression either. Then you have the Hyper Activity or Attention Deficit disorder type drugs which carry a suicide warning. The schools are pushing on our boys who are by nature not sitters and their attention wanders with boring teachers.

In the 1930s through 1950s the first song children learned was “Jesus Loves Me.” They grew up with daily family devotions and Sunday School every Sunday. This built a strong foundation for the struggles of life in a sinful world.

Today, we grow up immersed in the sinful world, thanks to media and ungodly schools that teach children that sinning is fine and condemning sin is the only real sin. Human nature has not changed over the millennia. “The soul that sinneth, it shall die.” The Bible has the cure for that.

Who’s crushing Jewish faith? Very rarely in culture war if at all

Guess you haven't been around universities and colleges that consistently trash Israel and support Palestine while also holding up Islam--that not only attacks Jewish faith but threatens to eliminate the very existence of the Jewish people, their faith, and their homeland.

This is all over culture and NOT just in upper graduate educational institutions. Think democratic party. Even U.S. secular jews are some of the worse anti semites against the existence of Israel. The only reason they aren't the VERY worst is that the deep jewish haters--that are Islamic--call for their total destruction. Fortunately for now these silly, naive, secular jewish puppets that mock their own often and rarely call for their complete destruction. But the essence of their attacks fall into the same camp. This crushing of the Jewish faith is not only ALL over the culture it is a thick string that weaves through out the increasingly hate filled vitriol that supports Islam.

The only war on Jews by Christians I recall since the big one that started all this sort of discussion is Pali Christians against Israel but due to the Pali Islam birth rate and old Pali Christian terrorists dying off that has about petered out

Israel bashing is not the same as the war on Christianity in modern American culture.....

There is almost no Hollywood animosity or media bias towards reform or conservative temples aside from jokes from Jewish comedians

And towards the Orthodox they get picked on for oddness like the Amish who they resemble albeit more swarthy

But I’m not aware of much campus or tv animosity towards Passover and Purim etc

If one feels they must always equate Christianity and Jewish when commenting about Christian values fine

Now the culture attacks on Israel equate with those on Christianity....true

Chart that shows change in suicide rates by age for every decade between 1950 and 2010. For just about every age group, and especially for children, suicide rates rose. The only exception it shows is for the elderly, whose rates have declined quite a bit.
