WASHINGTON — Suicide in the United States has surged to the highest levels in nearly 30 years, a federal data analysis has found, with increases in every age group except older adults. The rise was particularly steep for women. It was also substantial among middle-aged Americans, sending a signal of deep anguish from a group whose suicide rates had been stable or falling since the 1950s.
The suicide rate for middle-aged women, ages 45 to 64, jumped by 63 percent over the period of the study, while it rose by 43 percent for men in that age range, the sharpest increase for males of any age. The overall suicide rate rose by 24 percent from 1999 to 2014, according to the National Center for Health Statistics, which released the study on Friday.
The increases were so widespread that they lifted the nation’s suicide rate to 13 per 100,000 people, the highest since 1986. The rate rose by 2 percent a year starting in 2006, double the annual rise in the earlier period of the study. In all, 42,773 people died from suicide in 2014, compared with 29,199 in 1999.

I’ve posted for a while now how this is becoming common in the NYC metro area (so much so that for the first time they are proposing a “suicide net” for the George Washington Bridge). Lots of people who realize America’s best days are behind her, and they have no role in this global economy, are simply offing themselves - jumping off bridges, walking in front of trains and such. I’ve also posted ad nauseum that there has been no recovery whatsoever here; people are trapped with debts from the “before-times” (mortgages, college debt, etc.) while earning the “new normal” Third World wages in the McJobs available to them. Those already trapped find escape via suicide, while the younger people increasingly engage in self-destructive behavior while swearing off families, mortgages, even car loans...
Yea if Hillary gets elected it will really spike.
Social media has become an altar to untalented, immoral, narcissistic fame as has programming much of the time. Just sooo many reasons. But Obama and the unprincipled, power hungry politicians have caused much damage. I still think a faith life and an inspirational leader and consistent message can do much to inspire the downtrodden. No matter what the nucleus. Think Reagan. Think Rev. Billy Graham and many others.
That’s what they want. Despair by the masses and there is despair when people are not pointed towards hope.

It should be noted that some of the suicides are recognizable as suicides — and a lot of the suicides are not.
Suicide is the last treatment of obamacare.
I also wonder how many of these women bought the feminist lies, aborted children, put off marriage, all for a career and now find in later years that their lives are empty.I feel sad for the desperation that causes all these deaths.
Thanks. It is probably unsettling to our overlords that in my area many of them aren’t disguised as anything else, and are done with plenty of witnesses. The despair can’t be concealed.
I remember recent stories about Red Chinese firms forcing prospective employees to pledge not to commit suicide (as they were dealing with the same problem); that jibes with my ongoing rant that our standard of living is deliberately being reduced to that of Red Chinese serfs...
In my area (NYC metro - northeastern NJ) I suspect many of the suicides are economic in nature. We also have an epidemic of heroin use that is out of control, reaching every socio-economic group.

Birth control is a hypothetical suspect, definitely. Especially if this increase is at all a result of the opioid addiction plague or an increase in alcohol addiction. They don’t realize what is wrong, because everyone knows nothing is wrong with bc, so they try to numb themselves out.
So is the 24 hour instant social media thing. Seems to me we just found out for sure how weird and dumb everyone seems to be when they can say it through anonymous electrons. Maybe that wasn’t healthy for society.

Sadly, suicide is usually a permanent solution to a temporary problem.
I have to be honest. If electing DT keeps people from hopelessness, at least there is one good reason.
