Has anybody noticed how quickly HUD Secretary Julian Castro has FADED as a possible VP pick for Hillary Clinton? Last year he was considered to be the VP-in-waiting but now we are getting a bunch of stories about possible Hillary running mates, and poor Julian is barely mentioned.
I think Julian's fade began with a Politico story a few months ago in which Castro was portrayed as a complete lightweight. Perhaps Team Hillary inspected Julian closely and discovered a Beta Male who would wither in debate with a Republican VP pick. I do know his tenure as mayor of San Antonio was a joke. A powerless figurehead mayor who I believe earned only about 60 bucks per week which tells you what that city thought about the importance of their mayor.
They likely realized that Mexicans hate Cubans. They’re going to have to pick a Mexican to get the Mexican vote.
Hillary needs someone to help her with votes, but not threaten her with “replacement.”
Maybe Biden?
Mayonnaise?
Fauxahontas?
He makes Pajama Boy look macho!
The Castros ARE Mexican. Their mother is a big La Raza advocate and has some role in the organization.
Julian Castro is of Mexican decent, born in San Antonio, Texas. He is Chicano, La Raza Unida, with his immigrant maternal grandmother coming from northern Mexico.
Imagine Beta Male Julian in a VP debate with, say, Chris Christie.... BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
My mistake. I've never met a Mexican named Castro. I thought it was more of a Cuban name.
Huh? Spanish names are pretty universal all over Latin America. You are as likely to find a Castro in Mexico as you are to find one in Cuba...or Puerto Rico or Venezuela or Paraguay, etc.
Julian sets off gaydar detectors coast to coast.
The evil Castro twins’ mother claims she was a mojado-and she is a commie mommie who really should be in Venezuela or some other 3d world dump-I don’t know anyone who thinks she is anything but an attention-seeking motormouth...
A little lite in his loafers. They wouldn’t want that on the ticket.
Nations tend to favor some names over others even when they share a common language.
Spot on the Castro Brothers rumored not to go out in the Wind because they’re such light weights what San Antonio voted for him even though he had his brother a twin step in for him during the campaign for mayor and the media and Democratic party just blew it off as it was going to go the way of Henry Cisneros
Castro is actually a rather common name-Spanish surnames are the same anyplace the Spanish settled-some surnames are more common in certain areas of Spain-but not so much in the New World. My family name/surname is more common in the Pyrenees than other places in Spain-but it is not uncommon in W/SW Texas and NM.
Interesting. In my 30 years in CA I’ve never encountered it.
Those two make Cisneros look like a real dude-can you imagine either Tweedledum or Tweedledee Castro being involved in a scandal about money, a mistress and having a wife who is always stoned on stuff like Prozac because she is completamente loca?
Yes he does!
My 1st husband was from NM-his mom’s surname was common in the area they were from, but I’d only heard it a few times here, even though it was a Basque name, common to the Pyrenees, just like mine...
Ever since MrT5 was stationed there, I’ve thought Cali was a whole different world of Hispanic ancestry than Texas, NM, Arizona, etc-they are not like the rest of us-even the dialect is a bit different...
