Pinging the list.
Tomatoes (Sun Gold cherry, Cherokee Purple, Russian Black Krim, Mortgage Lifter, Husky Red Cherry) just bustin after all this rain, I’ve snacked on 7-8 SunGold: brilliant orange, green seeds, sweet as sugar wuth an acidic tickle.
Peas: should harvest 1lb in a couple days. Little Marvel.
Lettuce, spinach, radishes already harvesting.
Exotic and heirloom squashes opening male flowers.
Peppers fruiting and some ready to eat.
Thornless Arapahoe blackberries taking their time but thornful ones growing berries. Snatching single strawberries almost everyday until flush crop throws. Fig trees 2yos coming down with rust.. I trim it off.
Sugar cube personal cantaloupes throwing buds and tendrils.
Muncher cukes throwing secondary leaves. Soybeans already have soybeans. Collection of 20 different flowering vines goin nuts.
Have to re-fertilize everything after the nonstop rains the last week.
Today, I planted azaleas, rhododendrons, pansies, and Elysium in my wee little plot.
I also installed some stepping stones and a little concrete Oriental lantern.
My herbs are doing great on my deck, along with three kinds of lettuce and onions.
I am becoming a FARMER! LOL!
Garden thread time, YAY!
So far this/last week, I have planted all my purple potatoes. And all my finger potatoes. I got over to the neighbors with a bunch more fingers and purples (the fingers are actually good, healthy starts) Got them planted.
Today I got a tomato plant and a couple lemon cukes, also a rhubarb root from the nursery, I have to figure out where to plant the rhubarb.
Soon, Monday I think, Bellarmine prep school has the beginning of their plant sale. This is one of the hugest plant sales in the NW!
Add me to the ping list.
SOOooo happy to have gotten the hitch on the garden tractor fixed! So much easier to use the garden trailer to haul water to the garden, then to take it in the car, then lug the jugs to where they’re needed. I use 2 5-gallon jugs, and 4-6 1-gallon bottles to fill the watering can.
After next week’s weather dump, I should be able to start using the irritation tank & pump, and water with the hoses.
Checked the nest box, and counted 6 babies; they seem to be good sized, and are active.
The ducks are getting huge, but still have over a week to go before they have a date with the freezer. Have to find where I put away for safekeeping the big crab boiler pot I use for scalding when I pluck birds.
Getting a few second, reserve, flowers opening on the apricots, so we still may get a few this year. Wild plums and the earliest apples are blooming, as are daffies and tulips.
Come on, those who haven’t, and contribute to keep this board and the Gardening Thread going. If I can make a small monthly, anyone can. Any contribution is better than none.
Thank you.
Please add me to the list. Thank you.
