Ted Cruz on Thursday criticized the backlash to North Carolina's transgender bathroom law after Republican presidential rival Donald Trump indicated he opposed the controversial measure.
"We have gone off the deep end. This is absurd," Cruz said during an interview with conservative radio host Glenn Beck, a backer of the GOP White House hopeful's campaign.
Beck asked Cruz how he'd argue that his position isn't aimed at targeting transgender people but rather at "the heterosexual pervert" who would try to flout gender-specific bathroom laws.
Cruz pointed to his two daughters, ages 5 and 8, arguing that the younger one "knows the difference between boys and girls."
"You've got the Obama Education Department suing to try to force junior highs to let teenage boys to shower with teenage girls," he later said.
"That's crazy. It's not a reasonable position," Cruz continued. "The idea that grown men would be allowed alone in a bathroom with little girls — you don't need to be a behavior psychologist to realize that bad things can happen, and any prudent person wouldn't allow that."
"When you deal with people who are repulsive perverts and criminals — there are some bad people in the world and we shouldn't be facilitating putting little girls alone in a bathroom with grown, adult men. That is just a bad, bad, bad idea," the Texas senator said, mentioning his experience as solicitor general in Texas handling cases of "child molesters, of pedophiles."
Trump earlier Thursday morning said North Carolina unnecessarily mandated transgender people use public restrooms that correspond to their biological gender in legislation aimed at preventing cities and counties from passing their own nondiscrimination ordinances.

yeah Cruz seems to have spent more time worrying about Americans bathroom habits than announcing his plans to keep Islamic terrorists from coming into our country as so called “refugees”...
If a transgender who is in drag wearing make up and goes to the ladies room and sits down to pee, who would ever know? No doubt they have done it since the flush toilet had been invented.
what would cause a stir is a man in drag going into the mens room!
Same goes for a butch female going in the mens room, although it would have to use a stall to pee in.
Who cares?
We have stuff WAY more important on who goes pee where in public.
And the Republican party, the ones who can’t help themselves from being dragged into non-issues, continues to shoot themselves in the foot.
This is a local and state issue and should not be of concern to a President.

Cruz needs to think first and respond second.
The right needs to set the conversation and not let the Left do it for them. That is how the right loses.
I predict now that Trump will back track on this statement in a few days.
I didn’t hear LGBTrump mention any of these things today either. What’s the point?

I have been listening to this issue all day on Talk Radio, and I heard it personally on Good Morning America. It was not a stupid response, it was a business response. Politically it was a gotcha question, no answer is acceptable to everyone, you have to admit that. Now, as in all issues, there is certainly more at stake. So I will pass on what I learned today about this issue.
Business wise it is prohibitively expensive to have Mens, Womens, and OTHER bathrooms, especially in existing structures. It was pointed out that all mens bathrooms have stalls, the same is true for womens bathrooms, so each occupant has privacy. If a man wants to sit, fine, no problem. I have never personally seen what the fuss is all about. Whatever JUNK your carrying determines what bathroom you use. If your determined to use the ladies, lose the junk first.
Here is the second issue. Not talked about is how this morphs into other issues. I have a daughter, and I don’t care who you are, or what your issues are, your not stepping into the ladies or girls shower rooms with male junk, it just is not going to happen.
But that is part of the outflow of a decision on this issue. How many men out there could not care less where a guy takes a leak, but takes great exception as to a man stepping into the shower at school or at the gym, when its his, or anyone elses child? I think it takes on a whole different meaning when you see where this COULD go.
Nip it in the bud. Your genitals determine where you pee and where you shower, and if problems persist for the individual, it is their problem, and not societies. They have doctors if its psychological, and surgeons if they are serious about changing over to the other sex.
But in NO case, will my children, or wife, or mother, be put in danger, and be forced to accept this flawed thinking.

Has Cruz unsealed is files? Has Cruz told us how he came across the border from Canada to the U.S. legally? He isn’t even listed on his father and mother’s divorce papers, so who is Ted Cruz?

If a transgender woman dressed as a man used a men’s bathroom who would know? They couldn’t use the urinal.

Yeah, this is a big issue and shows Trump is a New York liberal.
Many Trumpers on here are in a state of denial, but this one is making them think whether they admit it or not.
It also shows the divide in the conservative movement because Trump is going to need to defend his position against our own base in the general election. That’s going to be a problem for him and for us.
As with all people and all situations, the urge to act on bad behavior is predicated on that individual. Setting up a person who might do this does not help the person.
Your going to find bad people no matter where you go, but you try to minimize the temptation. IMO.
