" Target Corp. made it clear Tuesday that transgender people who visit its stores are welcome to use the bathroom that aligns with their gender identity.
The statement by the Minneapolis-based retailer comes amid debates in many state legislatures over restricting public restroom use to the sex listed on a persons birth certificate.
While many of those conversations have centered around restrooms in public schools and government buildings, Target appears to be one of the first big-box retailers to take a proactive stance in declaring its position on the matter when it comes to its own restrooms.
While they may not be technically public, restrooms in stores are often the most easily accessible and widely available options outside of peoples homes and workplaces.
Targets position also extends to its fitting rooms.
Inclusivity is a core belief at Target, the company said in a statement on its corporate website. Its something we celebrate. We stand for equality and equity, and strive to make our guests and team members feel accepted, respected and welcomed in our stores and workplaces every day.

Over six feet and proportioned largely!!!
Thanks very much for that link. I had just heard this story on the radio this morning.
Not surprised ESPN fired him over that.
I’m a HUGE on-line shopper; dissing Target isn’t going to be any trouble at all. :)
Retailers don’t like men to go into fitting rooms with women (wife). I assume because they don’t want people having sex or stealing. My wife likes me to provide feedback without having to come out. Some things women just don’t need to come out to show everyone. I have been asked to exit several times due to this. Now 2 women in there would be no issue. Seen them do it no issue. So now target ( not that we shop there) just gave its approval unless there is a specific policy about one person in a fitting room. Pandora’s box once opened can not be closed easily.
We have to fight absurdity with the obscured.
