Michelle Obama has given the Queen an early birthday surprise by announcing she will accompany the US President when he has lunch with Her Majesty later this week.
Mrs Obama has struck up a firm friendship with the Queen during her previous visits to the UK, and famously ignored royal protocol to put her arm around the monarch's shoulders in 2009.
Until now, the US Embassy had indicated that President Barack Obama would be on his own for a private lunch with the Queen at Windsor Castle on April 22, the day after she turns 90.
But Buckingham Palace has confirmed that Mr and Mrs Obama will make up a foursome for lunch with the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh.
The Obamas will also have a private, informal dinner with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry at Kensington Palace later the same day, their spokesman announced.
The Duke, who met Mr Obama in the Oval Office in 2014, extended the invitation and the Obamas gladly accepted.

Some days, I cannot help but fell sorry for the the Queen, her family and the British people.
Can you just imagine, standing or sitting there have to smile for photos with those two?
Then having to replace the furniture and china.
Inviting herself to the party. Exercising her “black privilege” like that is the kind of thing that leads to incidents like the one in Pittsburgh that sent so many to the morgue.
If I were the Queen, I’d use both the Obamas for speed bumps under my Land Rover.

The DVD fiasco was with former PM Gordon Brown, and not only were they the wrong encoding, but the recipient was vision-impaired. The Queen’s “gift” was an iPod loaded with The Won’s speeches.
