Are there situations where there are Trump delegates who do not support him, and thus are an assured vote for someone else after the first ballot?

That doesn't seem right. If they're Trump delegates, representing voters who chose Trump, they should stay with their guy as long as they can, unless compromises have to be made. Trump delegates should go into any negotiations with an attitude of what best represents the Trump voters they represent.

Otherwise, they're undermining the whole process.

And the CO and WY mess? That's absurd. How can they represent the voters if they don't let the voters express themselves by voting. "Delegate" means you've been entrusted with representing the will of what the members of the party want, not what the elite of the party want.

Question - if a party hack, or elected official if you prefer, is named as a delegate do they get convention costs covered that would be out of pocket otherwise?

In other words, is there economic gain associated with being a delegate?

LOL! Exactly. I can’t understand the lunacy and violence expressed by Trump supporters, but it seems to be a constant.

I always clarify my statements by saying that I can’t stand Trump and would never vote for him under any circumstances, and while I’m not a Cruz fan, I’d vote for him.

We had many better candidates, but they were driven out by Trump’s money and free publicity without even getting to present their ideas. Cruz has managed to hang in there, and I have to give credit for perseverance even to the odious and useless Kasich (although I have no idea where he’s getting his money from).
