In the critical early days of September 2008, after Sarah Palin was nominated as the Republican Party's candidate for Vice President, the National Enquirer ran a cover story alleging that the Alaska governor had an adulterous affair.
Palin, and Sen. John McCain's presidential campaign, immediately and unequivocally denied the story. "The smearing of the Palin family must end," said McCain campaign manager Steve Schmidt, as quoted at the time. "The allegations contained on the cover of the National Enquirer insinuating that Gov Palin had an extramarital affair are categorically false. It is a vicious lie. The efforts of the media and tabloids to destroy this fine and accomplished public servant are a disgrace. The American people will reject it." The campaign also threatened legal action.
(That was a textbook example of how to shut down a media rumor)

I am not a Trump supporter. That said it isn’t about honesty or answering the question. It is about playing the game in a manner that doesn’t fuel the fire.

Since the National Enquirer has become the newspaper of record for tRump supporters, it must be true about Sarah. We must not question their reporting.
Cruz came out and denied and slapped the accusations down. It's the Trumpers who keep wanting to supply the fuel to keep this smoke screen burning.

Cruz has called the Enquirer names and said they got the story wrong but will not deny adultery.

To the contrary, Trump made it personal. He has done it with all the competition. Cruz staying in the race will end Trump’s run. Cruz will go back to the senate, Trump will go home a beaten sore loser.
There is only one solution. Trump extends a hand, Cruz takes it and together they end establishment rule of Washington. It would mean Cruz pledging his delegates to Trump, Trump offering Cruz the AG or SCOTUS spot and the rest of us checking our emotions at the door.
It’s about beating the rat. It isn’t about destroying ourselves.
Sometimes the NE is right, sometimes wrong. They got it wrong on Palin, they got it right on Edwards. Since the Cruz rumors have been out there for six months and other publications knew about it - and Cruz gave a non-denial denial on infidelity - I’d say they might just be right again.
Don’t think this won’t become a problem if there is a brokered convention or if Cruz gains the nom. It will.
Maybe the GOPe will try and hoist Sarah in a brokered convention?... /sarc

Trump is doing fine. The Establishment Soros, Hillary, Bernie camps own the MSM media. But they have been attacking Trump non-stop since the beginning and every primary so far has had bogus polls against him saying hes done.
Most people do not watch the MSM news anymore, but everybody has somebody in their family who shops in a grocery store. Same with daytime talks shows and talk radio, The NE article is in their face at least weekly for the next month.
Online Cruz is getting the hell beat out of him on Twitter and most chat forums. (#Cruzsexscandle #CubanMistressCrisis) Trump draws massive crowds and has more viewer counts then any of them.
Exit polls show he pulls from all demographics and especially well from the ones that do not pay attention to the MSM and the venues with the anti-Trump Message.
Bottom line, Most Americans do not like being told what to think and the fact its 24/7 anti-Trump is pushing people to Trump since they do not like or trust the ones pushing the anti-Trump message and can see Trump for themselves online without the filters if they are undecided.
No Cruz’s optics are killing him. he had the handicap of being a DC Insider Ivy league Lawyer to start with, his core base is not conservative as is presented but rather is GOPe. Palin Sessions Sheriff Joe etc are conservative. So other then the MSM, Soros, Establishment and Democrats backing Cruz now he has very little enthusiasm going his way.
Saying that Wis has a a large vote fraud machine with its dem population so the outcome there may not reflect voters choices so much as what the Establishment wants to project, The bogus polls are part of that to make it plausible.
