Evangelical broadcaster James Dobson Wednesday praised Ted Cruz's bid for the Republican presidential nomination, saying in a new television ad that the Texas senator is critical to naming more conservatives to the Supreme Court. "With Justice Scalia's death, we need a president who will defend the Constitution and nominate conservatives to the high court," Dobson, founder of Focus on the Family, said in endorsing Cruz as a private citizen.
"I know Ted," Dobson said. "He's a Christian family man of the utmost integrity."

“Do you know anything about James Dobson at all??? He seems to be in the TV entertainment business. Like Trump.”
Let’s not run down James Dobson just because we disagree with his choice in this primary. Your characterization of him is not accurate at all. Dobson had a very long career as a Christian psychologist helping people with their families, and his primary medium was the radio.

Thanks for saying that. I appreciate reasonable people like you even if we do support different candidates. I have been shocked at the level of anti Christian snarky comments that some Trump supporters have taken to posting.

“How dare you and the other Trump supporters smear him in order to elevate your false messiah.”
You mean that you do not behold the face of God in Donald Trump? Well, neither do I. I don’t see it in any politician. But Trump supporters aren’t pushing Trump as a messiah. I only know one campaign which is.
PS - God is not mocked.

People don’t like the idea of clergy telling them whom they should and should not vote for in order to be in good standing with God.
It’s something people have been adversely against since the start of this nation.

Occassionally one reads a comment posted at Free Republic by someone who literally doesn't know their @ss from a hole in the ground.
Your two's inane comment characterizing Dr. James Dobson as an "Elmer Gantry televangelist" is a mind-blowing example of "profound ignorance".
Dr. James Dobson (for those who actually know anything about him) shares the same ultra-high pinnacle of integrity as Billy Grahamn.
Typical of the few folks who might not be aware of the above "fact" are the "New York City Values" crowd.
So ... as Donald Trump as (sadly and unfortunately) behaved over the last 30 days as an occasional "freakin blithering idiot", your comments on Trump's behalf are easily understood.
Let's just hope that Donald Trump does NOT call Dr. James Dobson a "loser moron idiot" at his next press conference.
But he probably will anyway ... sheesh ...
Donald Trump's ideas on The Mexico Wall, Islamic Visas, ect are great.
Strategically, however ... these otherwise GREAT ideas are being associated on a "national" basis by a really smart, talented guy (Trump) ...
who acts as if his birthright includes "All the Marbles", and the playground, and sun, moon and skies above it.
Gen. George Patton Jr. had a bad reputation for getting in trouble occasionally with his mouth (as he admitted) ...
Donald Trump ... face it or not ... almost acts as badly as Glen Beck ...
and that should scare the Hell out of all of us ...

I don’t view Cruz as a messiah. He is a man and there have been times that I have disagreed with him. I simply think Cruz is a man of integrity whereas I think Trump picks any position that he thinks will help him at any given time.

Dobson is a good one. There’s no denying the fact that Dobson has a respected career and has been an important voice over the years in the Christian conservative camp.
I’ve always been a fan of Dobson.
However, let me point out what Dobson does not do that Glen Beck was willing to do. Dobson does not jump that Glen Beck shark and say that God is endorsing Ted Cruz.
IOW, it’s Dobson’s opinion and not the bible’s opinion. It’s Dobson’s opinion and not God’s opinion.
His is an important opinion, but it is an opinion that’s a bit behind in terms of reality.
Trump can win.
Cruz can’t.
Therefore, support the guy who is most likely to close our borders, stop our enemies, bring back jobs, and improve our taxes.
It’s the guy who can win.
