A male leopard which entered a school in the Indian city of Bangalore injured six people trying to capture it. A scientist and a forestry employee were among those mauled during the near 10-hour long effort to corner the dangerous animal on Sunday. The leopard, which strolled into the Vibgyor International school, was eventually tranquillised and released. A recent wildlife census estimated that India has a leopard population of between 12,000 and 14,000. The eight-year-old male was spotted strolling inside the school premises in the Kundalahalli area.

You’re right. Read about Jim Corbett’s experiences hunting man eating leopards in Indian in his great books. Do a search on Amazon.
As far as I know they purr.
No they aren't, mountain lions are genus puma, leopards are genus panthera, same as lions and tigers. Same attitude as well.
Good eye there! I did not see good old Boy G Biv until you pointed it out.
I understand; I guess I should be more clear: What do the families of victims of animal attacks feel when a loved one is killed by a wild animal?
He was kind of chief trouble shooter during the British Raj when it came to man eaters such as the Leopard of Rudraprayag which killed and ate 125 people.
Corbett was basically a quiet badass with nerves like steel wires.
This must be him with some "sleeping" kitties.
The colors of the visible light spectrum: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet. I learned them as Roy G Biv. We started with red since it has the shortest wavelength and the others follow in order of wavelength.
People see mountain lions in soviet Red Hampshire now and then, even though they technically ‘don’t exist’ in that area. Bobcats quite common...saw one myself from about three feet away. Stared him down, he/she ran off.
Yeah, Corbett’s was a fascinating life and his books are great. Kenneth Anderson was another great hunter/writer from that era. His story about the Spotted Devil of Gummalapur is one of my favorites.
Lol!
Seriously, I shouldn’t laugh, that looks very painful.
How come I didn’t learn these nifty things in school?
Both are ambush predators. I don’t care what genus they are. A mountain lion tore a woman to shreds (to death) about 3 miles from me.
I wonder about the origins of the school’s name!
I just went to their website, and they include the rainbow in their logo.
So it is intentional.
You should care, if mountain lions were like leopards, there wouldn’t be any in the US. You can put the fear of humans in mountain lions not leopards.
Same thing here in Mississippi with panthers/cougars, but there have been documented cases in neighboring states. People need to stop it with the “black panther” stuff though; there has never been a documented case of a black (melanistic) cougar anywhere.
kids today can appreciate that humor. I love that the Marx Brothers
Everybody knows what KIA means when talking about casualties in war. Know what KBT means? First time I heard that over a radio i thought “WTF?”
