The Greeks *are* known for their pitchers and catchers.

If the Tigers don’t win it all, it will be Brad Ausmus’ fault.

Read the first sentence. It’s nonsense. No need to read further. If they don’t even know how long baseball has been around in the modern sense, the chances that they know anything about ancient history are pretty much nil.

The Greeks invented the Free Agent, the suicide squeeze, and the Designated Hitter.

Baseball, as baseball, is not yet half a century old.

I wonder that game was that I used to play in Little League.

"Baseball, as baseball, is not yet half a century old"

Not sure what is meant by that but they were playing Bball during the Civil War and there were some reports of a news story in a Boston paper back in the 1600's where "ball playing was allowed (or not)" on Boston Common (sticks were used to hit the ball and people ran bases).

Yeah, spring training at last! What a pity the United States doesn't have a major sport to tide us over between the World Series and spring training. Well, there's curling, I guess.

That said, baseball is an American sport, invented by Americans. In ancient Greece. I know this because it has been at least that long since the Mariners had a winning season.

The big question this year will be whether Dusty swallows the toothpick and what will F.P. say.
