Devastated commuters have paid tribute to a beloved moggy known as the Bus Stop Cat after it had to be put down after being kicked.
Missy, the 13-year-old ginger feline, spent her days at a bus stop in Havant, Hants, and was adored by hundreds of commuters who she greeted every day.
Her distraught owner Richard McCormick found her bleeding from the mouth and rushed to a vet.
She had a fractured skull, a broken jaw and that all of her teeth had been knocked out. They had no other choice but to put her down.
Dozens of floral tributes have now been left at her favourite bus stop, along with poignant messages and children's drawing.

Awwwwww! Hey, the good gladiators are the ones with compassion. You sound like Rocky. Heart of gold.
You could be right and the thought did cross my mind. Other sources are reporting it, too, though, and the owner did take the animal to a vet for her injuries. Not sure if they have anyway of telling or making a good guess. It’s not out of the realm of possibility she was injured deliberately by humans...even in animal friendly England as this case below recently happened to a dog there:
Teenage gang fed Chunky the chihuahua drugs, set him on fire and broke his neck before dumping him on a tip - but he SURVIVED

‘Bus Stop Cat’ who was famous for being friendly mourned after being ‘kicked to death’

You're an animal!
No, worse. Human.
Pets certainly do have the ability to lift one’s spirit. This person is the lowest of humanity.
Not mourning their passing does lower us though.
I have a cat I love dearly. Not the same way I would a child but the way I love a cat. I dread the day of his passing.
Love and caring do not have to be rationed out and loving a pet does not reduce the love we have for people. It expands it.
I agree. I wasn’t trying to imply that you put animals on a level with humans. I was just replying to the comments, in general, about the flowers and mourning for the kitty.
Very sad. In Kitty Heaven now.
Oh good. You explained well. :) And I agree. I find nothing wrong with people expressing their sadness and appreciation for the friendly bus stop cat.
“Some people are hardly any better than animals.”
Most a little better, many are far worse.
“Most of the time I wish I were a bird or something.”
You are like my grandmother. She always wanted to be a bird, so she could just flap her wings and fly home, or a dog, so she could just shake herself off after the rain.
Sadly for this thread she didn’t have much use for cats.
Actually the Muslims like cats, because Muhammed liked them. (Everybody’s got at least one good thing about them I suppose.) They don’t like dogs.

Thanks!
I was at a thing over the weekend where kids were placing other people into the group to show what their families looked like before, during, and what they hoped they looked like after their therapy.
In almost every situation the child would have the family apart before and during, but the “happy ending” had the family together at the end. The one constant would be the child and their pet together the entire time. Really shows how important an animal can be. (Even a cat! - jk)
Our cat is okay but isn’t all that friendly to me. Except one time I was seriously hurt and was on the coach while my wife was calling the medics. That cat, first time in it’s long life, jumped up and laid on me on the couch!
We were with my mom a few years ago as she was dieing. Going through the old photo albums and she remembered everything (at 93).
One photo had her as a teen holding a kitten. One of my daughters said how cute a photo it was.
“Yes - I always liked kittens. I never liked cats though.”
(We sort of let that one drop - wondering to ourselves how that worked!?)
I couldn’t agree more. My Maine Coon cat is very affectionate and loyal. If anyone hurt him, they would have to deal with me. That wouldn’t work out well for them.
The subhuman who did this to that poor cat should be shamed and tortured very painfully.
Like the warm, purring calico kitty that is sitting on my knee as I type this.
Ouch! I’ve never encountered such brutality to our cat and dog family. I had a sweet cat who climbed up our tree to my bedroom every night. Two loveable dogs who returned the love.
A muslim.
They think cats and dogs are unclean.
If they can’t kill an infidel, they will attack an animal that they think infidels are attached too. It’s been done by them before and it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure it out.
