Devastated commuters have paid tribute to a beloved moggy known as the Bus Stop Cat after it had to be put down after being kicked.
Missy, the 13-year-old ginger feline, spent her days at a bus stop in Havant, Hants, and was adored by hundreds of commuters who she greeted every day.
Her distraught owner Richard McCormick found her bleeding from the mouth and rushed to a vet.
She had a fractured skull, a broken jaw and that all of her teeth had been knocked out. They had no other choice but to put her down.
Dozens of floral tributes have now been left at her favourite bus stop, along with poignant messages and children's drawing.

It’s hard to believe someone who would do that belongs to the human race.
Great quote/tagline and oh so true.
“I am proud to be a member of the Human species”
Meh. Most of the time I wish I were a bird or something. People are despicable. Your language didn’t offend me, though. :)
There is nothing like a good feline or canine buddy. One of our felines (who I found in the bushes as an infant) is purring next to me, now.
I can certainly understand it. I don't put animals on the same level as humans, but I feel sad when mine have passed on, and I feel sad when I hear about cruel things being done to any animal...especially a sweet pet.
Dogs and cats, they give unconditional love to their people.
I have 4 Chihuahuas. I think I know who abused our 2 little senior girls before we adopted them. My guy had to physically restrain me from pistol-whipping him at Wal-Mart last spring.
Spoiled isn’t NEARLY a strong enough word.
you think i treat him well.
the Mrs. feeds him and changes his water before even saying hi to me!
And she tries to teach him words ROFL.
too funny. have a good one!
Dogs yes, studies show cats don’t care.
I hope they find whoever did this. And I hope that their punishment takes place in a very dark Alley.
Seems to be happening more frequently lately.
I used to box in my late teens and twenties, had a somewhat tough reputation after a few brawls with fellow paesans on steroids.
Those people would faint i they saw me alone with the cat!
sitting next you purring. :)
Poor sad kitty. All she wanted was to love people.
Just wondering if this is an area taking on refugees, and or more and more Islamic immigrants?
Please give your kitty friend some extra pets from me.
Absolutely.
And they call evil humans “animals”.
That’s an insult to animals.
You took the thoughts right out of my head.
She may have been the *one thing* many people had, to make the rest of their day bearable.
Really nasty yellow journalism by the Mirror.
Pure speculation by the owner:
“It seems like somebody has given her a kicking which obviously isn’t a very nice thing to do.”
No one witnessed this attack. It is more likely that she ran into a automobile or bus tire.
Automobiles are the major “predator” of cats in urban areas.
This was an old cat, 13, so it is quite likely that her hearing and sight were going.
This is completely irresponsible of the paper to claim that this is an animal cruelty case with no more to go on than pure speculation by the owner.
Will do!!
he loves when I wrap him up in my arms.
They’re half the size of his body and he disappears and purrs in them :)
Nature's first green is gold
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.
-- Robert Frost
I would be a Bear or a Wolf, maybe an Orca.
Those are all cool. I could see myself as a penguin or an elephant. My favorite extinct animal is a Dodo, but I’d be dead so...
