A thrill-seeker who parachuted off a bridge overlooking the Pacific likely drowned, as did the man who jumped in to try to save her, authorities said.
The Monterey County Herald reports Tuesday that authorities first realized the two BASE jumpers were missing on Saturday, although the jump is thought to have occurred days earlier.

Super dangerous sport. Sad loss.
At least no rescue responders were hurt. For my part, I am pretty much ok with thrill seekers getting the thrill of their life as long as no one has to try to save them.
Life can be hard for an adrenaline junkie.
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
Idiots!
So the waves got them - we went from Santa Cruz up to San Francisco and stopped by a little beach, walked out with my two toddlers and a giant wave came in the minute we stepped onto the beach, I pushed my son up to a rock and grabbed my little girl with both hands, she was underwater looking up at me with a terrified look in her eyes I will never forget.
You must ALWAYS take care at the oceans edge, it is not forgiving.
Sad for their families. But, a little chlorine in the gene pool now and again is ok.
Back in 1999, a woman was killed jumping off El Capitan, in Yosemite. Ironically, it was an organized jump to protest the ban on BASE jumping imposed by the NPS, for safety reasons.
A real “Hold my tattoo” and watch this moment.
Base Jumping really does seem like Russian Roulette.
M ine too. Do you know what Geronimo says when he jumps? MEEEEEEEEeeeeeeee
I am glad you are all OK.
I am always uncomfortable watching people walk on the rocks near the waters’ edge. Not because they will be swept into the sea, but because I will feel guilty over not trying to rescue them.
I have seen YouTube videos of jumps off that bridge, what they do is stand on the edge of the bridge and drape the parachute over the bridge and then do a somersault and then ride the chute down to the landing. Unfortunately for them, even though the jumps were successful they ended up getting nailed by the waves. Just the sort of thing that would get Wile E Coyote.
