A student in Killeen, Texas, was suspended on Tuesday after he picked up a classmate who was having an asthma attack and carried her to the nurse's office against his teacher's instructions.
Anthony Ruelas, 15, a student at Gateway Middle School, an alternative school in the Killeen Independent School District (ISD), said his classmate was "wheezing and gagging for three minutes" when his teacher said everyone should stay calm and wait for an email reply from the nurse in response to the situation, Texas TV station KCEN reported.
Ruelas said he knew that his friend "needed help," which is why he decided to pick her up and carry her to the office.
The teacher's report on the incident read: âDuring 5th period another student complained that she couldn't breathe and was having an asthma attack. As I waited for a response from the nurse, the student fell out of her chair to the floor. Anthony proceeded to go over and pick her up, saying âfâk that, we ainât got time to wait for no email from the nurse.â He walks out of class and carries the other student to the nurse.â

If the country was functioning properly, the teacher would be in prison for reckless endangerment and the principal would be fired.
Thx for the link.
Public (Government) School is Child Abuse.
Good on you Anthony!
I read stuff like this and truly wonder WTF is going on in our school systems.I certainly understand a disciplined atmosphere in schools, but when the students make better decisions than do the staff....there is time for a serious look.
And some lawyer ready to sue.
Wear your suspension like the badge of honor it is, Anthony. Ya done good!
government schools continue to set the standard for complete lack of common sense.
This is why I dropped out, and sought negotiations with the higher-ups. Still managed to graduate on time. Turns out the principal at my school (now closed) was way out of line.
“My God in Heaven, tell me this isnât real.”
Very real and not surprising.
For an interesting education in public school teacher quality, just apply to substitute teach in your local public high school.
There are some good teachers, certainly, but many are as mentally immature as their students.
Reason to Home School Ping
I was home schooled by the best: My family.
This ping list is for the "other" articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)
The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
Waiting for the public school defenders to come on board and rake homeschoolers over the coals.
But then, they’re strangely silent sometimes.
And....What good would that do?
I just e-mailed the district offices.
No coffee for the teacher.
But....Sadly, there are many conservatives here on Free Republic who insist their child's government school indoctrination camp is “different”. And...There are the GSDers ( Government School Defenders) that insist that abuses such as the one reported here are very rare.
