I'm listening to Kudlow's Money Talk on the radio. Larry, the host is furious at Ted Cruz for making his remarks. This has become almost a Rorschach Test where everyone gives their own interpretation on exactly what Ted was saying. I know what he was referring to, the New York that would elect Bill de Blasio, had elected Bloomberg, and Hillary to office long before that. These people were elected in spite of their hard left leanings. Ted was speaking of people like Governor Andrew Cuomo, who said "Pro Gun Supporters have no place in the state of New York. Who can forget about the "artpiece" featuring a crucifix dropped into a large jar of urine.
Larry was saying Cruz has ruined his chances and should leave the race. He said Trump 'eviscerated' Cruz in his responses. Some follow up callers disagreed with him, saying to forgive someone for a mistake is the Christian thing to do, vs disowning that person completely.
I don't know many individuals actually from New York, the city or the state. Are any of you more familiar with citizens of this state? Are most this sensitive to negative remarks? Do they still see themselves as the cultural centerpiece of the country?

Here’s the time line of the NEW YORK VALUES attack...
- Ted’s poll numbers rise in Iowa.
- Trump starts needling Ted with ‘Not many evangelicals from Cuba” Ted fires back with “I don’t have a plane with my name on it.”
- December debate happens - Trump and Ted make nice.
- Late December: Trump is destroying Hillary in the media. Seems like Ted is no longer on the radar.
- Early January: Trump is asked about Ted’s Canadian birth - Trump turns that into the BIRTHER moment by concern trolling that it COULD BE a problem.
- Ted laughs it off at first, tweets JUMP THE SHARK.
- Trump keeps concern trolling about Ted’s Canadian birth.
- Levin offers his first of many warnings to Trump.
- Breitbart picks up the Birther story and runs with it, as do other media outlets.
- The birther attack is picking up steam, the media start reporting it more and more.
- Levin offers another warning to Trump.
- Polls come out - Cruz is losing steam in Iowa. Most new polls show Trump ahead.
- Cruz superpac puts out push polls in Iowa to find out which attacks could work against Trump.
- Cruz camp OPPO discovers the Russert interview. It’s an old piece of OPPO found most likely by the Walker camp as both Walker and Jeb have used attacks from it in the past.
- Cruz camp isolates “NEW YORK VALUES” a line Trump utters from the 1999 Russert interview.
- Cruz starts field testing the line, and delivers it in response to Trump’s concern trolling.
- Trump delivers a beautiful response to Cruz’s New York Values dig on Bloomberg TV.
- Morning Joe plays Trump’s response and much of the media is turned against Cruz.
- Night of the debate Cruz ‘wins’ the birther argument, but is then ‘stumped’ by the New York values portion of the debate.
- Cruz campaign is already locked into the NEW YORK VALUES meme and moves forward regardless - Their hope is to power through it and paint Trump as a liberal.
- Trump fires back with GoldMan Sachs/Hypocrite attacks.
- Levin warns Trump again.
- Cruz stays steady with the NEW YORK VALUES and low poll numbers digs.
And here we are... putting it out there objectively it’s a great piece of political theatre. Well played to both campaigns.
The pictures Trump posted are from NY. The people in them are New Yorkers. The conversation between trump and Cruz is about New York.
But if New Yorkers also hold American values and displayed them on that day as well, then it would seem that Cruz has insulted American values as well.
Everybody knows what Cruz meant and that ain’t it.
I asked a question, it went like this-
“Well, let’s see, did Trump step in doo doo?”
Go ahead and answer it if you want.

better head back to church when you deliberately mislead like that.. he used a Queens NY vernacular sarcasm to make a point that Iowans weren’t stupid.. like “I could care less” when you actually couldn’t.. you know better.. don’t go to the dark side for your politics
Trump would not even outlaw third trimester abortion. That alone should disqualify him.
I asked a question, it went like this-

If you can construct for me how trump stepped in doo doo as a result of what he said, I’d be happy to entertain your thoughts.
I don’t think he did.
I’m looking for how it hurt him, and I don’t see it.
By the way, you should calm down a bit.
How about the pics of Trump palling with the Clinton’s then, since you want to put weight on images in that fashion?

Being “outraged” that “New York values” were impugned, you are defending the items and things, behaviors listed.
Which agenda might that be?
Obama’s trade agenda. Secret trade deals that we had to pass Trade Promotion Authority to see. Ted Cruz campaigned with Paul Ryan to pass it last summer. Hmmm. “Pass it to see what’s in it”. Where have we heard that before?
I thought Ted was smart. I was wrong. That was really dumb.
You might want to put the Trump Koop aid down for a minute and educate yourself. Cruz opposes that bill.
Surprised that cross didn’t burn into that she-demon’s neck.
