Who was Aldo Mario Bellei, and why should Donald Trump care and Harvard Professor Laurence Tribe know? Because Mr. Bellei puts the lie to Donald Trump's attack on the eligibility of Senator Ted Cruz to be president backed up by Professor Tribe's claim that "[t]he Supreme Court has never addressed the issue.
I want the person I vote for President to be born of two American citizens & who has lived as an American citizen the majority of his life...& who has not had dual citizenship. Does the describe Cruz?
You are on my twit list too. That's where I put people that I view as fundamentally dishonest and morally corrupt.
Hillary and Jeb! meet those requirements.
Trump is unfortunately right.
No, Trump is wrong. Many lawsuits were filed contesting Obama's eligibility, and those did not impede Obama from being elected, taking office, and governing. He simply treated them like the nuisance lawsuits they are. Lawyers were assigned to handle them, and Obama moved on.
The same would be true of Cruz. He would assign lawyers to deal with the nuisance lawsuits, and he would move on. The idea that (as Trump suggested today) Cruz should leave the race out of fear of a Democratic lawsuit against him is, frankly, idiotic.
You’re the one who brought the supreme court into the conversation because you say they support your decision. So you must think all their desicions are correct then. Changing the meaning of words is NOT ok with me.
SCOTUS has ruled that there are only two kinds of citizens, citizens at birth and those who are naturalized. I doubt SCOTUS will take this up again, but nobody but a candidate has standing to bring a lawsuit.
If Trump wants to make an issue of it, why hasn’t he filed a lawsuit?
donald messed up
“Sadly, there is no way that Ted Cruz can continue running in the Republican Primary unless he can erase doubt on eligibility. Dems will sue!”
FIRST WORDS and those most likely remember by the less than highly intelligent....
“Sadly, there is no way that Ted Cruz can continue running”
see how that works.
dems will sue is window dressing. the first sentence is the POWER BALL
“If Trump wants to make an issue of it, why hasnât he filed a lawsuit?”
i would erase the lingering doubt...that he himself has CAST on Cruz’s CANDIDACY
“we can’t have that can we..we can’t allow a TACTIC to turn into a..SETTLED issue”
He probably has a “Certificate of Birth Abroad” issued by the U.S. State Department which proves he has been a citizen since birth.
Cruz is eligible. I proved that over and over since he first filed last spring.
But you’re missing the point. Trump is right to say that democrats will sue and the democrats have already indicated they would.
It has nothing to do with Obama who alleges he was born in Hawaii.
Cruz was born in Canada and although myself and constitutional scholars will say Cruz is eligible because of his mother, it won’t stop the issue from emerging and confusing a substantial portion of the electorate.
Not only have democrats indicated their intentions, but Cruz’ enemies in the Senate have stated that he is not eligible and there will not be any sort of resolution to settle it (as was done for the fraud named McCain).
Cruz will need to win a motion to dismiss. If he loses that, it could take a very long time to settle. That is what Trump is saying.
You do know that we have had several presidents in our history that did not meet that standard, right? For example, Chester Arthur was our 21st President. His father was born in Ireland, and became a US citizen in 1843. But Chester was born in 1829. This meant that Arthur had only one US citizen parent (his mother), and was in fact a dual-citizen of both Britain (by his father) and the US (by his mother) for his entire life.
Lets see it!
But my point is this - who cares? Who cares if the Dems sue? Who cares if it takes time to resolve? It hasn't affected Obama, why would it affect Cruz? Why should Cruz leave the race out of fear of such a lawsuit? Would Trump back out of a business deal because of the threat of a baseless lawsuit?
.
Yep, you have zero respect for laws that don’t fit your infatuation with Democrat Trump.
Aw Jeezzzz!
Cruz was my first choice, after TPA he became my second. Now, not so much.
You mean the TPA he voted against?
Maybe the conservative base & alternative media has learned not to head for the tall grass whenever the left says 'boo', we shall see.
BTW I hope there is no one here who does not believe they have something equally debilitating for Trump should he prevail in the primaries.
.
Had you finished 3rd grade, you might understand that birth certificates are only issued by the governing authority of the place of birth.
Troll on dforest Gump.
You are just attracting more attention to the issue. More attention isn't going to help. It's going to make things worse, because eventually people will notices stuff that I and others have already found.
I know of a quote from a famous Supreme Court case that will simply blow your doors off and leave you sputtering. If you keep irritating, I may very well show it to you.
I've kept it quiet because I want Cruz to win and I don't care about the rule of NBC anymore because Obama broke it.
It would cast the same cloud if Cruz were Trump's VP.
In order to serve as VP, you must be eligible to serve as President.
