Unexpected Results From DNA Tests

I am wondering if any FReepers had unexpected results when they did a DNA test during a family History search.
In my case I was looking for an oppressed history of serfdom and general nastiness from Norman Overlords during the Middle Ages, just preparing for an Obama America.
To my surprise I discovered we were Normans, in the Staple, Merchants, and in general capitalists, until God and Religion brought us unto this Blessed Shore to continue in the same trades.
So in this election year of the usual Freeper cage fights I thought to step outside the blood and gore of FReeper politics and speak of Family History.

“Now for my real brag, I am not related to Obama.”
That is probably the nicest thing anyone could hope for.

There are 3 prime companies:
FTDNA
23andMe
Ancestry.com
About ~ $170 for aDNA (autosomal) which both males & females can take. Will show cousins who have tested, back about 5 generations.
For your surname; only males can take the test at FTDNA, and it can go back to the early 1600. Take the Y-DNA37

Fascinating.
I was born a poor ... never mind.
My Mom is big into that sort of thing, I should see about getting one done for her birthday.

On one side of my dad's family were the first families of Tennessee and on the other side was a double murderer. (He was never known as Uncle George "the serial killer")
On my mother's side we have kin close to Carole Lombard and Humphrey Bogart.
So, I guess it even's itself out in the end.

Don’t worry, I’m sure those famous Yankees dropped DNA all over somebody’s bloodline. ;’) One of the lines on my father’s side goes back to late15th also, but with the sizes of those families in each generation, I’d be really damned surprised if we were not related through that family. ;’)

Some of mine were hangin from a tree by their neck. Others hangin from a tree by their tails.

I was surprised to find Iâm 16% Scandinavian. Iâd had no idea there was any Scandinavian in me!Same surprise for me. I was 18% Scandinavian, but thinking I was pretty much 100% English, Scottish, Irish, and Welsh. Seems both our ancestry had about 1/5 plundering Vikings,

Do IT. I did it because my mother was Black Irish and I was wondering were the hell she popped up among a bunch of Blue eyed Irish people., my Grandmother blamed the Mail man.
So I did her, J1c2e, rather rare little info.

LOL, I was wondering if this could be a scam. I suppose there could be some legit ones.Found that my results from FTDNA and Ancestry were pretty close. Definitely not a scam.

I had a great uncle that was supposed to be tried for murder.
They had to let him go because the town where he lived was so divided over it every time they tried to have a trial there would be a big fight and someone else would end up dead.

what idiot puts his dna in a public database? Those who are serious about their genealogical research, and what to crack research brick walls. However, if you are a law breaker, it's probably not the brightest thing to do.
