It's the story that gripped nineties America and forged a racial divide across the nation.
But it was also about the tragic deaths of two people: Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman.
The trial of O.J Simpson, now televised as part of a dramatic new series called American Crime Story, is a complex tale - and Cuba Gooding Jr, who plays O.J, reveals the intense sense of loss he experienced while filming it.
Gooding, 48, told The Hollywood Reporter: 'There was one day after filming that I went to my trailer and I couldn't stop crying because I realised I never [even considered the loss] for the Goldman or Brown family.'
'Back then, I was just so relieved that another black man got away from the injustice that was the LAPD. I was just so relieved that they didn't screw us over again.'

What did he think the LA riots were about when random white, hispanic, and asian people were targeted for assault, abuse, and theft by the black community?
It wasn’t about police or injustice. It was about getting ‘revenge’ on the whole non-black world.
Meh. My time is too valuable to waste on this crap again.
Well at least he’s honest in his racism.
OJ Simpson didn’t just innocuously “murder two white people”. He outright butchered them. For anyone to believe a jury nullification by an overwhelming majority of uneducated minority females was “finally, something for the black man - we finally won one”. Is the height of evil in my opinion.
The only reason today anyone who ever supported him voices some milquetoast reservation and contrition is because they value their careers and money over the racism they abetted.
Screw Cuba G.
In the interests of diversity, why wasn’t an Arab cast in the part of OJ?
Cuba Gooding’s “epiphany” and tears were designed to make warm and fuzzy feeling about him and generate ratings. Personally, I think the Goodman and Brown families never entered his thoughts until the publicist wrote the script for him.
Good for him. He’s admitting a mistake and hopefully will learn from it.
There was a vast degree of denial in just about all the aspects of the OJ Simpson trial. OJ got a LOT of sympathy, some of it possibly deserved, simply because he was a one-time sports hero, and an icon for Americans of African descent.
But merely being an icon is not enough, when the evidence becomes overwhelming in the eyes of the public, as witness the huge public relations hit that Bill Cosby has taken over recent months, as additional revelations have come out about his abuse of various females, and the means by which he “seduced” them.
There was a great deal of evidence in the Brown-Simpson murder that was either compromised, or simply “disappeared”, as nobody ever found the knife, or maybe they did, it was retrieved and disposed of before the police could take it in for evidence. I strongly suspect Robert Kardashian was involved with that “cleanup” operation. Similar deal with the blood-soaked socks.
His dad was in the Main Ingredient. Maybe all you older people remember their hit “Everybody plays the fool” His dad sings the lead, no kidding......

Yeah, you stinking racist...you and about a zillion other racist pieces of crap that would have voted to let the murdering bastard free, no matter what, just another black man being stuck by "the man".
I am really, really, REALLY fed up with this racist crap.
And I will never apologize for being white.
And for what it's worth...I think you're lying through your teeth, Mr. Gooding...you could care less about a couple of honkies.
I'll never watch your crap.
What I find interesting about the OJ case is that it’s one of those rare examples of where karma seems to have come crashing down on everyone involved in getting OJ acquitted. Johny Cochran died of brain cancer, Robert Kardashian died of throat cancer and his daughters were turned into brain dead hos that everyone laughs at, Robert Shapiros son committed suicide, F. Lee Bailey was disbarred, Aln Dershowitz sister was run over by a truck. The only one who seems to have walked away scot free was Barry Scheck.
I remember in an interview with Dominick Dunne he mentioned that Barry Scheck said to him “I am haunted by Kim Goldman and what I did in that trial.”
I still remember the videos of cheering blacks everywhere whose jubilation in the acquittal of a murderer was uncontained. It was disgusting and illustrative.
I remember when the verdict was announded. For me, seeing how people reacted to the verdict was an excellent indicator of two things - their IQ and their morals.
I would like to see a new poll to see if Black America is still so blinded by their racism to still think OJ didn’t do it.
Then, thanks to Johnnie Cochrane (who's now rotting in hell) he was tried by a *true* jury of his peers...those peers having a collective IQ of 55.
That is pretty interesting....I remember that song. I like the fact most of the lives of the folks in that trial turned to crap. Glad that Cuba realized, eventually, there was another side to this coin. Most folks who are 48 and pretty different ideas 20 plus years prior.
You just made my day with that information!
:)
But you forgot the biggy... OJ went to jail any way and is still there !
I relished the term "Old Man" when I was a Battery Commander, at the ripe old age of 29.
Whenever an insinuation is made that I may be a racist, I take it on head on...I simply don't put up with it. From the time I entered active duty, I served in units that were majority black/Hispanic. We were all green, race had no role in how we did our jobs.
I'll be damned if I'm going to let someone get away with that racist crap.
