Bengals intercept a pass to seal the game. Promptly fumble it back to the Steelers. Then commit 30 yards of penalties in the final seconds to allow Pittsburgh the game-winning chip shot field goal.
A year from now no one will remember. But I will always remember Seattle snatching defeat from the jaws of victory during the last Super Bowl.
I was watching criminals at the time, but I saw it. I think it was the biggest collapse I ever saw. I am a Vikings fan. That is an exercise in futility, but at least my Blackhawks have won 3 Stanley Cups since 2010.
I didn’t see anything wrong with Burfict’s tackle.
Um, they do. Why did Tressel never work in the NFL?
Couldn't deal with the salary cap.
Hardly.
The Bengals wouldn't have even been in the game if an early whistle by the refs had not called back a fumble that the Steeler defense took to the house. That would have put the game at 22-0, and the Bengals would have had to play an entirely different, and very desperate game.
As it was, on both of the Bengals late scores the refs did everything but walk the ball into the end zone for Cincinnati.
The supposed double standard is baloney. Both calls were correct. The hit on the Bengal receiver was made after he took two steps and turned. He is a running back at that point, not a defenseless receiver.
Vontaze Burfict lined up Brown and hit him despite the fact that Brown didn't have the ball. You get 1.5 steps to hit a quarterback or receiver after the ball is out of his contact. Burfict was at least three steps away. His hit was vicious and he is going to be fined and suspended.
You lost. You were never in the game. The refs did everything but walk the football into the end zone on your last two possessions for you, and a wayyyyyy too eager whistle deprived the Steelers of 7 points on a fumble that they took to the house.
Your offense sucked, and without the refs help would never have been anywhere near the end zone.
I so friggin LOVE that your thug team lost.
And it’s especially fun to hear you and other Bengal fans cry and moan and whimper and piss your drawers when the fault lies directly with that idiot Burfict, who has been nothing but a cheapshot since his high school days. Great player? Not that great... dozens of NFL players as good. Had a great half yep, makes some great plays occasionaly yep, and is a complete NUT job, YEP.
And he and the other major thug cost your beloved losers the game and more importantly the entire season.
Lay down with dogs and get fleas. WOO HOOO!!!! Love it!
Go Steelers!
I had that same thought tonight especially when a few Bengal players walked off the field. Then, when the two last penalties happened. I’m a Steelers fan but they were losing the game in the 4th quarter until then. Those two Bengal players lost the game for their team.
My husband, huge Steeler fan, said tonight that he’s losing interest in football and that it’s become just a bunch of thugs and drama queens and he’s having trouble rooting for that. I’ve felt that way about pro football for quite a few years and now it’s tainting college football for me too.
Two thugs lost the game for the Bengals.
And Earlier a Bengal was penalized for a shoulder to the chest. That is too dangerous apparently. The nfl allows the most dangerous of all in these scenarios. They can’t define a catch or a hit to the head.
Although the entire panel on NFL disagree with all he hysteria. Don’t think this burfect thing was deserving of a penalty.
That would be remarkable.
A helmet hit is legitimate on a ball carrier when he is no longer defenseless. Learn the rules or stop shooting off your mouth.
24 made a stupid and horrible mistake .. he let his personal animosity toward Rothlesburger (7) get in the way .. and 24 head-butted 7, and knocked him out .. it was the scariest fall I have ever witnessed. And, the films show that 24 purposefully made the attack; 24 went after 7 at full speed.
It was sickening to watch ... and 7 already had an injured shoulder .. so this may not go well for 7’s next game.
But, the Ref’s were furious and basically threw the book at the Bengals.
Didn’t matter. At that point you were already dead. Our kicker would not have missed at the range already set-up by Burfict.
Weird. Gets called all the time. I know the game pretty well, super smart guy.
You lived by the refs, and you died by the stupidity of your own player.
So then should shakier be thrown out for headhunting hit?
The officials were responsible for all but three of the Bungals points, and took 7 points away from the Steelers with a fumble recovery that Shazier took to the house. You were never in that game without the refs help. All you needed to do was take three knees and control your players. Marvin Lewis is a bum, and so are the thugs he sent out on the field.
Are u in drugs Shazier should have had 15 yard penalty on that “fumble”. No dog in the fight but worst officiated game ever
#84 . . . is that Brown? He had one foot on the ground for less than a second before he was hit. There is no way the momentum could change in time to avoid the hit that occurred. Yes . . . the hit involved head/helmet contact. Can’t see how it could have been otherwise. The recent rules regarding proper methods of contact have thrown a cloud over the game in certain respects. Don’t have a dog in this fight, but think the penalty on the Bengals defense was unnecessary. I’m writing of the play that brought up the first of two consecutive 15-yard penalties.
