Abbott explained, "We combed through the Federalist Papers and the Anti-Federalist Papers, through court decisions from Chief Justice John Jay through Chief Justice John Roberts. Through every scrap of relevant materials all the way up to the executive office. We distilled the information into nine amendments to the Constitution that will restore the Rule of Law in America. We call it: The Texas Plan."
Republican presidential candidate Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) recently said he would support a constitutional convention to get term limits for members of Congress and federal judges and a balanced budget amendment, but the 100 page plan by Abbott is a serious, comprehensive, and detailed plan.
The step-by-step roadmap to get the plan accomplished has been attached below.

Never. The left will hijack it. Let’s get them to follow the one that we have now
The problems with his plan is that it doesn’t go far enough. It should have term limits for Representatives, repeal the 17th Amendment, make Supreme Court justices serve a single 10 year term, more narrowly define the “interstate commerce clause”, and allowing Congress to override a alphabet rule change or EO (not a repeal of an existing rule) with a simple majority vote that doesn’t have to be signed into law by the president. Also, all federal laws and agency rules are to expire after 10 years. If they are important, they can keep passing them.
Nobody does a search anymore. This is at least the third posting of this.
Maybe I did the search wrong. Sorry.
Excellent points - agree with all you noted.
Leave the U.S. CONSTITUTION alone! Enforce what it says.
Third posting of thread on Texas and Article V.
“Letâs get them to follow the one that we have now”
How’s that working out?
“Leave the U.S. CONSTITUTION alone! Enforce what it says.”
That’s what I always hear and I ask, how’s that working out?
How do you suppose that will happen? Who is going to do that?
[Thatâs what I always hear and I ask, howâs that working out?]
We have STUPID people running the government. (Where have I heard that before?)

“We have STUPID people running the government.”
No, they are CORRUPT.
Governors who harbor a desire for the Presidency may not approve of Article V. Also it is hoped that most state legislators do not aspire to national office. Granted, that’s not a proven assumption.
and why would they abide by new amendments. The government needs to have their feet held to the fire to obey the current constitution. This could be done by revisiting the declaration...
Plus The left will try to add draconian amendments.
Just repeal the 17th. It’s the one amendment that could not be cheated.
The current one is a living, breathing document. The new one had better be a dead one. /s
That has been taught in colleges for decades.
The left or the GOPe can try to add,mid the rules of the convention allow. Besides 3/4ths of the states have to approve each amendment individually before it can be added.
A constitutional Convention is NOT just talking about new amendments. It’s extremely dangerous in the present political climate.
Why in the world would anyone think a Con Con is a good idea, if theyâve read Matthew Brackenâs books? Amendments, yes, Con Con no.
As Citizen Zed said, “Leave the U.S. CONSTITUTION alone! Enforce what it says.”
