Pretty! It seems colder this winter, even though I know it isn’t.

Thank you, MEG! Mr. trisham went food and supply shopping today. He also got gas for the snowblower and started it to make sure that it would run. It seems likely that we aren’t going to get more than a few inches of snow, but we have heard that too many times and then gotten 2 feet, so we are always prepared.

Having two sofas in front of the fireplace, a bunch of firewood and plenty of blankets helps, too.

Our Freeper friends who live in the Maryland, Virginia and DC areas are getting the brunt of it.

I love you have a good place in front of the fireplace just in case. I noted that Mass. was not showing the big numbers...but I recall last winter’s heavy snow there!

Sounds like Mr T has you covered.

We’ve had some very heavy snow these last few winters. I’m happy to catch a break this time around. :)

My wife likes cardinals. Your beautiful montage goes well with this poem, I think:

Scarlet Dreams

There is a promise in the sight,
Of redbirds moving 'round in flight.
Their brilliant colors clearly state,
This frozen land is not our fate.

There will be thawing coming soon,
A glacial creeping toward June.
When this bright plumage may seem bland,
As flowers fill a fertile land.

But for the moment all is stark,
A brilliant day turns crisply dark,
And only wind sings mournful dirge,
Of having lost its vernal urge.

Beneath a coverlet of white,
The same bold striving senses night,
And slumbers onward snug in bed,
While scarlet dreams flash overhead.

“Beneath a coverlet of white,
The same bold striving senses night,
And slumbers onward snug in bed,
While scarlet dreams flash overhead.”

My connection with the Earth sometimes seems tenuous.

Actually, I prefer it that way. Earth’s intimate embrace can be rather unrelenting.

Let me embrace the world. Let me hold it in my hand.

And let my eyes be filled with stars, and tears.
