Has it been almost 20 years since "Independence Day" came out. Feeling those bones creek. :) The charm of the original one was it was about rather ordinary people, including the POTUS, rising to the challenge.

The president is a woman in this one, just in time for the Democrat convention.

Sounds like a great story line, though... Not a hokey 2nd effort

Hey, at least it won't have Will Smith on it (heard he wanted $50 million).
And apparently the stripper is now a scientist.

The first movie ended with the world in almost a pre-industrial state, 90% of everything was destroyed, including population. Or so it seemed. Yet the Earth has modern aircraft, ships, etc., to fight the next invasion.

Using recovered alien technology, the nations of Earth have collaborated on an immense defense program to protect the planet. Sounds like a rehash of the later seasons of Stargate SG-1.

I will have to watch this when it hits pay per view. I don’t see how it will match “Independence Day” but you never know.
Independence Day is my much watch, every 4th of July. I love it.

Dunno. Doubtful they could even begin to recapture the banter between Will Smith and Goldblum, not to mention the comedy of Randy Quaid. This, like all modern pics, just looks dark. The first one relied heavily on humor-—”The End of the World as We Know It” playing, Will Smith, “Welcome to Earth,” and “I couldda been at a Barbeque!”

It can't be the same aliens as were in the original.
That movie made a point of saying that their entire race was moving from planet to planet on that immense mother ship that was destroyed.

Independence Day is a good movie, but cable channels have run it into the ground. Hardly a week goes by without some channel replaying Independence Day.
