So, the Big Speech is over. Obama spoke from the Oval Office about the domestic Islamic terrorism that occurred in San Bernadino a few days ago.
Many gun owners, myself included, dreaded this speech as the possible introduction point for unconstitutional Executive Orders on firearms. The Executive Order (excuse me, 'Executive Action') floated most heavily was to bring private firearms sales under the Brady Act. The announcement did not materialize.
One of two gun control urgings that did appear, however, is something I deem the "No-Fly-No-Buy List". In this effort, the present "No-Fly List" would be used to also deny the purchase of firearms to those people who are on that list.
Let us discuss the "No-Fly List". While, at first glance, it appears to be a useful tool to prevent terrorists from flying, it has a few characteristics that make it very Soviet-like:
This is an Un-Citizen-List. Placement on this list makes you an Un-Person, at least in regards to your ability to travel freely. That is not acceptable in a society like ours.
Now, along comes OTrauma, who pitches the idea -- not to REFORM this legal tool -- but to EXPAND it to include firearms purchases.
There is no due process. The present list must be reformed, not, instead, have its function expanded!
It is important that we do not let the "No-Fly List" become the "No-Fly-No-Buy List."
If this list was to be made constitutional, the following must occur:
1) A full criminal trial and conviction must happen prior to placement.
2) Biometric indicators must be the identifiers, not name.
If they wanted to skip 1), above, then they must:
3) Restrict the list to non-citizens, who are afforded no protections under the B.o.R., and
4) Allow for a method of calling for a trial for removal from the list.
“IBNonIslamicZot” Now, the ridiculous nature of that, should be apparent. Particularly, when directed at you, Laz. Hence the joke. However flat, it might not be.
LOL ok. I missed it entirely. Blame my lack of coffee. :)
Good.

Your second premise is wrong.
Clearly they don’t care if muslim terrorists get guns, because they are importing muslims. By definition, some of those muslims will become terrorists, like night follows day.
Barack Obama and many people who live in this country are not American in any meaningful way. They are led politically by the blame-America-first crowd. Is Billy Ayers an American? A literal terrorist bomber who has become an influential professor, author and adviser to POTUS? He TEACHES American children. Is John Kerry, disgraced with stolen valor and advocate for viet cong communists against the United States, the feckless heir and bicycle crasher? Is Obama, himself the bastard son of communists, raised by atheists, hippies, and muslims? No.
My little sermon: The last line in your post says it all. Nothing will change until the people see the evil, that they voted for the evil, and that evil is a reflection of their own evil. And that is going to be hard because they have been taught that good and evil are relative. Moral cowardice reigns. Political correctness strangles the truth.
We need a leader to say that Obama is untrustworthy, devious, and dishonest BECAUSE he is evil, and we are ASHAMED of him and his associates and ourselves.
We get the leaders we deserve.
Our government wants muslim terrorists to have guns for the same reason that they wanted Mexican drug cartels to have American guns.
They need mass murders to propel their gun control obsession, and they will further use the “backlash” to stifle the first Amendment.
They are purposefully using muslim terrorists to dismantle our society, and they are importing as many as they can to speed the process, and they don’t care how many of us die at all.
Yep
What could possibly be the argument for allowing somebody on the no-fly list to exercise his 1st Amendment rights?!
Anyone but a government functionary would have the situation sorted in under 4 minutes...
Lighten up, Laz-Francis! LOL! :)

kiryandil wrote: The "no-fly list" gambit isn't about preventing "folks" from buying guns.
It's about putting their enemies on a secret list and kicking their doors in at 3 am to confiscate "the arsenal" - and killing the target as a bonus if they twitch..
What'll happen is "an accident" In Committee - and out will pop a CutePuppies/FuzzyKittens bill that will bar the listees from buying guns - AND POSSESSING THEM.
3AM SWAT raids to follow...

Geez, dude - I'm 3 editorials behind you. :(
And that's you WITHOUT coffee...
