Many people here, and probably most people in the country cannot, for the life of them, understand why Trump is doing so well in the Republican Primary race, considering some of the things that Trump has said and done, such as his attack on Megan Kelly, his telling Republicans to "get over it" regarding gay marriage (I'm paraphrasing here, since I'm too lazy to look everything up), his crazy idea that Mexico will pay to have a wall built on our border, and many other things.
But perhaps people are looking in the wrong places. Perhaps we need to look at what Trump HAS NOT SAID or done (at least in this campaign season), but which other leading Republicans say and do on a regular basis. That may help them quite a bit in understanding why Trump is so popular, and will not go away. Here are a few things that Trump does not say or do:
1) Illegal immigration is "an act of love"
2) People opposed to illegal immigration are "heartless"
3) Islam is a "religion of peace"
4) Terrorist attacks by Muslims "do not represent Islam"
5) People opposed to illegal immigration are "xenophobes"
6) We need a wall "on the Canadian border"
7) Anchor babies are "mainly from China"
8) We need to "take in thousands of Syrian refugees"
9) We need to "get into a shooting war with Russia"
10) The Pyramids are really "grain silos"
11) The Christian thing to do is "believe the Democrats on Global Warming"
12) Trump gets with victims of Illegals, not Illegals themselves
13) Trump does not surround himself with "Islamic Leaders" after terrorist events
14) Trump does not blame poverty for Islamic terrorism, since that is not true
15) Trump does not consider terrorists 'misguided'...they know exactly what they're doing
16) Trump does not blame Israel for defending itself
Anything Trump said last week is erased by what he says this week.
Just like Obama.
...or what he says at minute 3 of a speech is erased by what he says in minute 5 of the same speech.....
What “I” will do means what “you” will pay for.
...yep....and not only that....it means HUGE GOVERNMENT with more bureaucrats to enforce what "he" will do and that we will pay for....for years and years and years.....because new gov agencies never go away.
While I agree with the idea of a safe zone in the mideast there are some serious problems with the idea.
Right off the top it has to be on somebody elses territory and that’s the beginning of the next war. After all, artificially created borders are a never ending source of problems in the mideast as it is.
Somebody has to pay for it and we’re talking about billions of dollars to feed, clothe, house, keep secure etc. You can’t just put Sunnis, Shiites, Kurds, Yazidis, and Christians together in happy happy joy joy camp without them killing each other starting with the Christians. You’ll also have ISIS, Al Qeada and every other terror group in the region infiltrating the camp and recruiting.
Its an insurmountable mountain even in the short term that is pointless to talk about until the world is ready to take on the true source of the problem which is islam itself.
Yep, there are problems.....and it is the next war....in a way, Israel is itself a “safe zone” idea - since 1948. (Now there are historical realities that justify this stretching from the days of Solomon and before through WW2 - but it does show that a “safe zone” is going to create long long lasting tensions and fighting.
The Gaza Strip and West Bank are “Safe zones” that now contain millions of people.
