Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson on Sunday said he would not want someone such as Donald Trump to be commander in chief.
Mr. Carson said Mr. Trump, the front runner for the GOP presidential nomination, acted rashly last week when he immediately gave credence to news reports that Mr. Carson had fabricated parts of his life story as told in the book 'Gifted Hands,' which chronicled his rise from severe poverty in a Detroit ghetto to become an acclaimed neurosurgeon.
Mr. Trump tweeted that the reports exposed 'one of many lies' by Mr. Carson and called it the 'beginning of the end' of the Carson campaign.
'What does it say about people who immediately jump on the bandwagon when they hear something bad rather than waiting and finding out what the truth is?' Carson asked.
'Let me put it this way,' Mr. Carson said. 'I would not be anxious to have a commander in chief who acted that way.'
Mr. Carson has remained Mr. Trumps closest rival in the polls for weeks.
The news reports raised questions about Mr. Carsons claims that he was offered a scholarship to West Point and whether he tried to stab a classmate in a schoolyard brawl. Mr. Carson has fiercely defended all of the details of his life story.
Mr. Trump, who followed Mr. Carson on the show, said that the stories of violence from Mr. Carsons childhood were disturbing, whether true or fabricated.
'Look, I hope it all works out for him. Its a strange situation, though, when you talk about hitting your mother in the head with a hammer and hitting your friend in the face with a padlock, when you talk about stabbing somebody but the [belt buckle] saved them,' Mr. Trump said.

I think Carson is whacky.
“It’s that I don’t trust a system or a court in which it’s basically a straight “party line” vote and on most issues you know almost 100% which way every single one of those justices is voting before they even bring the case up to vote on.”
I don’t think that’s systemic. I think it’s a result of the boldness with which Evil claims to be good these days. Those who live in the Earl of Hell’s weskit pocket no longer have to hide their aims so well. They feel free to beat the drum for Evil quite openly, all the while claiming to be the good ones.
You cannot both compromise with and oppose them. Every compromise is a surrender to Evil. This situation allows the line to be drawn with a high degree of clarity.
I guess you can call that a “party line” situation, but there’s a lot more at stake than the futures of the demonrats and republiwussies.
No, he isn’t a modern day Nebuchadnezzar, he’s more like a modern-day Cyrus.
Correct...and that is why he needs a Cruz Control.
I don’t trust any POTUSA to put true constitutional lawyers on the SC. Just look at who Reagan gave us and what Bush gave us.
And that’s why I say....Trump/Cruz ticket!!!
Did Carson get that painted at a strip mall?
I don’t think Trump is a RINO. And, we need Cruz to solidify the conservative base, while Trump pulls in the Reagan Democrats. It’s a win/win for us.
Ted Cruz has his finger in the wind? That’s news to me.
Yes, I know, Donald Trump is extremely wealthy and self funding his campaign. And while that is refreshing, while it’s unique, and while there are advantages in terms of not being beholden to lobbyists, that alone doesn’t make someone a great presidential candidate. Not for me.
Otherwise, as I’ve said, why don’t we draw our pool of candidates every year entirely from millionaires and billionaires? I don’t think that would work out too well for us on either side of the spectrum.
And none of that absolutely means Trump is not beholden to anyone. He’s made countless deals in the past that he might be grateful for. Who’s to say one of those people won’t come along to try to strike up a relationship of convenience with “President Trump”.
And I don’t know if that will happen. But look, we’re coming at this from completely different perspectives perhaps. For me, it’s not even about who’s funding who. That’s big in our system. That’s a problem in our system. Without a doubt. But the best protection against corruption, as far as I’m concerned, isn’t “self funding your campaign”. The best protection against corruption is having a noticeable and committed relationship with and obedience to Jesus Christ. That’s the kind of character I’m looking for, because really, illegal immigration isn’t the biggest problem this country faces. It could be the most immediate problem on the horizon, I’ll grant you that. But the biggest problem this country faces is a culture and an electorate who thinks Christian values and Christian candidates aren’t appropriate for the 21st century.
And personally, I don’t see Trump changing that at all. I don’t necessarily see Cruz changing it either. But he at least is of that mindset. But really this is the problem. We look to ONE MAN, ONE CANDIDATE that we pin all our hopes on to save the country. That won’t happen. It starts with us, and it’s us getting our focus and our priorities, and our beliefs right once again.
What makes you think he is lying about his net worth? Have you seen his books personally? He owns hundreds of hotels, golf courses and other entities, that I’m sure bring him up to the 10 billion dollar mark.
Didn’t you just see who I’m for? Here I’ll help you:
TRUMP/CRUZ TICKET!!! Is that better????????
No, he said he has a pathological disease - he didn’t specify if it was physical or mental. Guess he is leaving that up to the voters to determine which.
He definitely is on some type of medication.
Your right...that is exactly what he said...sorry was tending to grandson and forgot what he said...lol....;>)
Which is exactly my point.
Is that all you have to prove your point you want some âhickâ to save America like we have had the last 8 years?
And you think that I want Carson to be president?
LOL.
And Eisenhower is the last President we had who respected and enforced our immigration laws.
We don’t need another President who is on the wrong side of the immigration issue. No Carson No Rubio.
Only again because she’d be pretty old by that point as well. She’s older than Donald, if I’m not mistaken.
But it DOES show his thinking, which isn’t exactly conservative at its root. I have no problem with him loving his sister. I have no problem with him as a human being from what I hear, which braggadocio and bravado aside, first hand accounts from people like , well, Ben Carson, seem to vouch for his quality as a human being.
But his even suggesting such a thing should speak to his lack of understanding about, well the very things most of us are passionate about and feel are important when it comes to the constitution and pro-life issues. And I honestly do trust that Trump himself is pro life.
But here again we have people laughing it off- because sadly, yes, I know. We can vet everyone EXCEPT for Donald Trump.
And so it goes.
OK...recently converted democrat?
Trump sued author Tim O’Brien over the book, “Trump Nation: The Art of Being the Donald” because O’Brien reported, among other things, that Trump was not as rich as he said he was. In the deposition he admitted “exaggerating” whatever that amounts to. the discrepancies between what Donald Trump says and the facts as presented are a matter of public record.
For example, The lawyer asks him, have you ever lied in public statements about your properties? Trump says he tries to be truthful, but then he adds this, “I’m no different from a politician running for office. You don’t want to say negative things.”
Then the lawyer asks him, have you ever exaggerated in statements about your properties? His response, “I think everyone does.” and on and on...
