Friends of mine had their first child 2 and a half weeks ago, a little girl, Sawyer Jane. In the first week she began to have difficulty eating and sleeping. They took her to the Doctor and could find nothing wrong. They took her into the hospital and all they know is that she has some sort of infection. All the tests keep coming back negative so they have not been able to pin it down. This morning I received this message from her mother: Sawyer update: We are being transferred to UVA nicu. Sawyer's white blood cell count almost doubled from before and she is now in a critical range. We are asking for your thoughts and prayers as we embark on the next part of this journey. Sawyer is a fighter and know that Brent and I are fighting with her.
Continued Prayers..
Thank goodness it’s not CF.
Prayers for family.
11/11 - Today we had a MIBG test. They inject radioactive material into Sawyer and then perform a nuclear scan. The material attaches to neuroblastoma cells. This allows us to see where all of the cancer cells are in her body. The results were inconclusive today. So, we'll have the same scan tomorrow, compare the results, and wait on the urinalysis results before finding out any information.
We are completely overwhelmed by the love, prayers and support from our family, friends, community, people we don't know, etc. Our hearts are full and we're continuing the fight with Sawyer.

Prayers for baby Sawyer .
Praying hard for baby Sawyer’s full recovery.
11/12 - First of all, we would like to thank Jack Tucker for baptizing Sawyer Jane tonight. We really appreciate his blessings over our baby girl. Jack was a great mentor to Brent when he first started coaching soccer and is very important to both of us.
Secondly, the tumors on the kidney and at the spine are NOT neuroblastoma! ! But, because they don't know what they are, tomorrow she will have a biopsy to discuss treatment options.
We have tons of mixed emotions. This is such good news, but the unknown is still very scary. The treatment options for neuroblastoma were much more promising then what "could" lie ahead. Of course none of this even addresses the blood in her stools or her low red blood cell and hemoglobin counts. She is getting another blood transfusion tonight as we battle those issues. We will continue using the prayers and support and fight for an answer for Sawyer.
