I blame those too, but I have to add overprotective parents that sanitize their children every time the kid touches a doorknob. They never play... never explore... always in their sanitary germ-free bubble.

We had moved in to our present home back in 2002. The neighborhood was quiet and serene almost all the time. There were very, very few children playing outside at all after school or on weekends. We thought that there just weren’t any kids around to be out.

Then in 2005 we had hurricane IVAN. The electricity was of for several days, no air conditioning, no internet, no cell phones or video games. The streets were full of kids, everywhere! Riding bikes, ball playing, running and being active like they should.

Then the electricity was turned back on. Kids disappeared again.........................

Here in California I see tons (literally) of fat Mexican kids. Mexican kids in Mexico eat the same kinds of food as Mexican kids in California, but the portion sizes here are much larger.

I see the Mexicans are fatties too. I thought they were poor.

I was 250 before head injury. Went to 430 after being home a number of years!!!

Lost 110 pounds past year. Did it be Starving at bedtime lol.

you dont lose 110 pounds and go to bed satiated every night.

If I wasnt the LAZIEST human in the world, I would have lost another 30 over that time with exercise.

Kids can’t go hunt chickadees with BB guns,

Today they'd get a SWAT team coming and kill their dog.......................

Remember when the Soialist Democrats sold Congress the idea that children did poorly in school because of hunger? So free breakfast was added to free lunch and in some states, free food for after school and during summer vacation. How did that turn out? The children are fatter and stupider than ever. We can only dream of the SAT scores of the ‘60s, and type 2 diabetes is an epidemic among our fat next generation. The government ruins everything it touches.

How they gathered these data is not made clear - I read the whole thing 2x and don't see any mention of where the data come from.

That makes me a bit skeptical.

Of course, I’m 6’5” so... I guess if I was 5 foot tall then it probbly would be.

“Shit, a broken arm or stitches was a badge of honor in the late 70’s. “

LOL, sing it brother.

My favorite expression back then was Uh oh, this is gonna hurt!

I dont like to lash out at other FReepers, but i get one more comment about about anything under 230 being an issue, you’re all in trouble.

Everyone was complimenting me at least party on how good i looked lol. THREE TWENTY!!!

i guess after 430...

But fiance took pic of my firing guns in Vegas and it put everything in perspective. I’m huge lol.

Problem with fiance is she’s really in love and sees through goggles. Tells me i look skinny lol,.

gotta love it.

250 by next year. then i’m done. take it or leave it.

Diet and nutrition. It's not like Koreans and Japs are doing more running around. France and Belgium have a food culture that is different, as well.

Mexico, New Zealand, Canada, UK, Australia, Ireland...'Americanized' food portions and diet.

Shit, a broken arm or stitches was a badge of honor in the late 70's.

I grew up in junk yards and body shops. I think I've probably got more scar tissue in my hands than a lot of people have in their whole body.

"...a broken arm or stitches was a badge of honor in the late 70's."

This! It meant you were outside playing, burning calories...

If one didn't have a scar, you found a way to get one...
