The cutting edge of print journalism that is Cosmopolitan labeled the Kardashians as “America’s First Family” on the cover of its 50th anniversary issue in November. Needless to say, America (i.e. Twitter) does not agree with this sentiment, and has taken it upon itself to educate the half-a-century-old magazine.
According to Uproxx, 16 pages of next month’s issue are dedicated to the family clan made famous by sisters Kim and Khloe‘s exploits in reality television, smartphone apps, and many, many other business endeavors. At this point, the Kardashian family is no longer a family — it’s a brand.
Whether or not this qualifies them as “America’s First Family,” however, remains to be seen. Especially since the phrase is generally reserved for the sitting President of the United States and his or her family.
The Kardashians themselves are celebrating, of course...

Instead of calling people Low Information Voters, maybe we should start calling them Kardashian Voters.
I’ve got to admit that I’m surprised the cognoscenti aren’t decrying it racist that the original author has deigned to replace the first family we have with one that looks like this. Weird.

The Gabors in youth were gorgeous women, not the Kardassians.
If it weren’t for depilatory, laser, fat-suck, plastic surgery, and every known method of cosmetic enhancement, those girls would be fat hairy wookies on the Jersey or Muscle Beach Shore.
That family is the epitome of promotion of the nothing into the false excellence of vacuous excess. America should be ashamed it is even concerned about them.
Hey, they make a fortune based on nothing. They came to prominence through an unseemly, crass sex video that turned out to be a staged, calculated move by them. They produce nothing and are famous for being famous. Sounds like a perfect fit with today’s “do nothing, I’m special just for being me, the world owes me a living” culture.
...yet somehow they managed to get a different, but still stupid, expression on each one of their faces. It’s really amazing work when you think about it!
The Kardashians are famous for being famous. Among them they have perhaps maybe a half-dozen notable accomplishments, and most of those belong to Bruce/Caitlin Jenner, as a much younger person.
Daddy Robert Kardashian was a lawyer and defender of OJ Simpson, and may have been complicit is disposing of some very damning evidence prior to the arrest of OJ. Remember the dump at the LAX waste disposal can, of a couple of poly bags? Never recovered, never much investigated.
America’s “first family”, all right.

I guess this makes sense. This country is obsessed with fame, money, and sex. Not that any of them are necessarily bad, but when it’s the foundation of your culture, you are looking at a rotted wasteland.
The Kardashians ARE a perfect example of today’s “America’s First Family”.

A decent comparison, but the most risqué thing about the Gabors was the Zsa Zsa / Johnny Carson cat joke. The Kardashians are exponentially worse - more so than can be explained by the overall cultural drift towards the gutter.
Bruce has had more plastic surgery than all of them by now, I would think.
I have news for this lazy "journalist." Cosmpolitan magazine was founded in 1886.
