A Montana bow hunter is recovering after he survived a grizzly bear mauling by remembering a tip from his grandmother and shoving his arm down the animals throat.
Chase Dellwo, 26, was hunting with his brother northwest of the town of Choteau on Saturday when he came face-to-face with a 350- to 400-pound male grizzly, the Great Falls Tribune reported

I bet you the reporters get these people to say they don’t blame the bear/shark/liberal/ etc
And gun control nuts will come out and say “See, there is no need for guns. We’ll start a class on how to shove your arm down a bear’s throat”
its a gag-reflex. Assuming the arm is far enough in, biting down would immediately cut off the bear's air supply, so they couldn't force themselves to do it. Having an arm down their throat would also be quite a startling new experience to the bear also....
Reminds me of the “Being eaten by a crocodile” skit by Monty Python.

No, not if he is gagging on the arm.
An animal will choose breathing over eating, any day of the week!
It’s not hiding. He wears it on his sleeve.
Probably "right arms into bear", right?
and pull him inside out ?
That actually makes perfect sense. Most prey try everything they can to get out of a bears’s grasp.
Shoving your whole fist and arm down his throat had to freak him out.
Moral of the story: do the unexpected.
Interesting, today I discussed this very act of self defense with a fellow softball player when we were talking about being attacked by a large dog........
There's another tactic involving large dogs but I wouldn't advise it against bears...........LOL!
I’d like to shove my arm down a few liberal’s throats.
It might shut them up about gun control.
I think the moral of the story should be : if you go into bear country be armed with more than a bow and arrow!
Save your hand and arm for pulling the trigger!
Two ways to shut them up. Name a law that would have prevented the campus shooting.
A .44 or bigger on the hip costs less than a new arm.
Ding ding ding ding ding! We have a winner!
Sticks in your craw, does it?
There's another tactic to use too.......
Drop down to a low crouch, put one arm up horizontal to protect your throat and when the dog latches on, use the other arm across the back of its neck then snap the head up with the arm in the dogs mouth to break its neck.......
How about a "right to arm bears"? PETA would approve.
