If I got paid in cash for services years I’d go buy silver with it. I’ve bought silver for $8/oz up to $40/oz. Lot of good it did me.

Interestingly enough, making SPAM a better investment than silver. lol

Those bacon roses are gorgeous!! I bet, though, if you sliced the spam thinly, then fried it just till done, let it cool a bit, then rolled it and secured it with a toothpick, you could make rose blossoms out of it :-) 🌹 And I'll take you up on that key lime pie, too .... yum!

I remember when silver was $4 an ounce .... Hell, it wasn't THAT long ago that a silver dollar (26.73 grams of 90% silver), was a dollar...
...or was it?

Thanks PGalt. Larry put the tune in my head by posting the first line,
and after that it was easy because that song was probably the first
Elton John song I'd heard which I liked.

“That had to be pre - 1973?”
Early 70s, yeah. Yesterday I filled my little ole car up for $2.07 a gallon, for a total of $19.25. How times have changed.

50 cents for cigs! Those days are gone forever.

What is the shelf life of Spam?
Nobody knows. It hasn’t been made in decades and all the records were lost in a fire so nobody knows when all the spam on the shelf today was actually made. (They stopped making it when Old Man Bush was president because it offended his Saudi buddies.
Do I have to say I’m joking?

4 gallons and get change back? Hell, I remember when you could get 5 gallons for a dollar. Yep, twenty cents a gallon. You could fill most tanks for 4 dollars.
And it was that price for years. It never went up. But once it started going up, it’s never stopped.

It started up about the time we abandoned the gold standard.
Coincidence?

“Hershey bars were 5¢?? Thats crazy.”
I recall as a kid going to the old log-cabin store in Northern Minnesota. Was looking at the candy with what to buy with a quarter, and was eyeing a 25 cent candy bar. the old guy said “Hey - I got some back here with the old ten cent price.”
So of course we bought those.
They smelled and tasted of kerosene - which he used to heat the place!
