Just thought this seems possibly important.
Gold also jumped.

my advice is that unless you are wanting to buy more, ignore it. I use silver for a long term hedge against dollar devaluation. Not so sure if it’s an intelligent thing to do, but I do it anyway. At the moment, I do not have about 9600 ounces of bullion. the silver that I do not own would have taken me about 30 years to accumulate. I used to watch the price obsessively, but all it will do is give you an ulcer, trust me. Block kitco on your firewall and go back and look at it again in 10 years.

Yes, I too recall when a Hershey bar was five cents.
However.....we began to notice that although the price hadn’t gone up, the bar was getting smaller. My grandmother could tell me how many ounces there were in a Hershey bar before WWII (she was a grocery store bookkeeper) and how it started getting smaller in the postwar era.
FWIW, I inherited about twenty silver dollars from her estate & several U.S. Savings Bonds in my name that Grandma had bought. A lovely lady.

I can remember paying 35 cents a gallon for gas. Could fill my V-8 Pontiac up for under $5.00. That’ll never happen again.

I haven’t been around quite that long. But I remember when I was about 14 or so, dad would give me 5 bucks and tell me to go to the store and put 5 bucks gas in his car. I would put in 4.50 in gas and buy a pack of smokes with the rest. That put the car up to about 3/4 tank... and I got my smokes

I just got a great deal on Gold Pressed Latinum. I’ll have to get rid of it though, it won’t fit in my gun safe.

the metals market has been manipulated for a long time to keep prices down.

Oooh, now that does sound possibly delicious! A few times when I was a kid, I enjoyed eating spam sandwiches my dear Aunt cooked - sliced, fried then placed on toasted bread with lettuce, tomatoes and mayonnaise.
Can't make these with spam though:

Silver lasts longer than SPAM, unless you have room to freeze it all.
