Is It Better to Adopt a Rubio Staffer, a Kitten, or a Water Buffalo?

Republican presidential candidate Marco Rubio recently added Adopt a Staffer for the Day as an option in the campaign store. It costs you $250, and in return you'll be mentioned on Twitter and get an update from the impoverished Young Republican taker who'd better be cute! (No, this is not welfare, since they have to work!)
How does it compare to other selfless adoptions you might try out?
-snip-
You can adopt a kitten from the ASPCA for about half the price of a Rubio staffer.
Apparently you can adopt an entire herd of manatees, Floridas most famous aquatic residents, for the cost of a single Rubio staffer. Rubio staffers, however, are much less likely to be hit by a boat.

Kitten wins, hands down. If it was Cruz staffer I might have a harder choice.

I LOVE kittens. i’m the last person in the world people would have thought would be a cat owner.
my mother got him when i was in the hospital with my head injury and while my fiance was working when i returned home, he was my BEST friend for many years.
Friends sometimes disappear when there’s trouble (they did) but pets and family, you always have them :)
His name is spaghetti and yes I’m Italian, lol.
Anyone hurt my cat they’d be in ICU for months.
I want another one.

This
New York Magazine writer Ellman, a big leftist like just about everyone at that snobby elitist publication is, thinks he's being funny in comparing Rubio's "Adopt a Staffer" campaign gimmick to other "adoption" initiatives. Actually, like for so many wanna-be humorists on the left, this piece falls far short of his objective. It's hardly worth the paper (or digital space) it's written on.
As a political fund-raising technique, "Adopt a Staffer" is somewhat creative, but I wouldn't expect it to result in smashing financial rewards for the Rubio campaign.
