IMPORTANT! HEALTH WARNING!
FOR ALL FREEPERS WHO HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING THE BAKING SODA AND CLOROX-DAKIN'S SOLUTION PROTOCOL FOR ORAL HYGIENE AND TOOTH BRUSHING!!!
The CLOROX Company has changed its basic Clorox formula to make it "concentrated" but has ALSO added LAUNDRY chemicals!
I just went to the Clorox website because I noticed the "concentrated" label on that bottle you linked to and it worried me. . . I wanted to check what the concentration of Sodium Hypochlorite was in their "concentrated" product. . . and to my horror I learned that Clorox has CHANGED their entire product line. . . and their cap coding too!!!!
Clorox has just CHANGED all the formulas for CLOROX!!!!! They have tossed out the good old stand-by that has been a century old and replaced it with JUNK New formula with adulterations!!! They are also using the SAME COLOR CAP ON EVERY VARIETY!!!!!! They've thrown the baby out with the bathwater. I would NOT, REPEAT NOT!!! use any CLOROX product for hygienic use on the human body until further notice!!!!!
All of their Clorox Bleach Products now are being sold with the same color blue cap, instead of their old color coded cap system, where the dark blue cap indicated an unadulterated pure Sodium Hypochlorite Bleach product. Now they ALL have the dark blue cap! But that doesn't matter because ALL products have adulterations.
They do not make it easy to lean what the concentration is, but WORSE ALL of the Clorox products are now ADULTERATED with laundry additives.
Even the Product Safety Sheets do not list the concentrations of the ingredients. . . nor is the old original pure Clorox even listed any more. Apparently such data is now a corporate secret.
There seems to be no pure bleach Clorox anymore. I cannot find the old product at all on their website! At this point I do not know what substitutes there are for the discontinues product. . . but do NOT feel safe by using any Clorox product in your mouth!
For example their Regular Clorox now includes: "Sodium polyacrylate is used in laundry detergents to prevent soils from depositing on fabrics during the laundry cycle."
Another with the another blue cap bleach bottle which just says "Clorox" but at the bottom lists "High Efficiency" also adds an additional ingredient of "Sodium Xylene Sulfanate"!
I have sent an email to our doctors appraising them of the situation because this has been an important product for protocols for tooth and health care in our implant Dentistry practice.
WHAT IN HELL ARE THEY THINKING!!!!
What about Roman Cleanser? That’s a product that has been around for years, and seems like it would be just pure bleach.
Excellent!
bkmk
OH, I got that. . . my explanation was to show why the SDS didn't help at all for what WE needed to know. Sorry if I didn't make that clear. Frankly I was pissed out how useless it was compared to the single source MSDS I am used to.
Just so you understand that Hydrogen Peroxide does not even faze Oral Spirochetes at all. . . they like it. And there are other bacteria it doesn't touch, as well. The Sodium Hypochlorite (Clorox) based Dakin's solution will kill everything.
We can see this under our $15,000 phase-contrast microscope after the use of either material. Use hydrogen peroxide, living micro-organisms, use Dakin's Solution, no living micro-organisms. This has been well researched, and replicated, multiple times.
I am glad you understand, Twinkie . . . this baking soda protocol, generally with table salt added unnecessarily added, was what our grandparents used and they did not get Alzheimer's, Adult Onset Diabetes, Heart Disease, or peripheral Artery disease in the rates we do. These are all considered Twentieth Century diseases . . . and they actually parallel the spread of the use of Toothpaste around the world, tasty, sweet, pumice imbued dentifrice that does nothing much to kill oral bacteria, while what people almost everywhere used baking soda as a dentifrice which has a five second kill time on oral bacteria through a process called crenation. Some will survive the baking soda, though, and the Clorox solution will get those.
Good luck, Twinkie. I appreciate the thanks.
That's the first I've heard of requiring of pulling all the teeth for heart surgery. Getting the gums not bleeding for several weeks prior to heart surgery is the usual protocol, but not an assault such as pulling healthy teeth. His teeth must be in really bad shape!
It is in reference to the oral spirochetes causing complications after heart surgery which could prove fatal. They get in through the bleeding gums.
He needs to talk to a very good dentist who knows about these issues in detail. . . and can cure the problems. If the DENTIST says the teeth have to come out, then they do. But it is never the standard of care to pull healthy teeth.
Please check the last few posts on this thread, sport. . . Clorox added a final new product that is essentially the old Clorox called Clorox Germicidal that will be OK to use. . . with a modification of the formula.
I cannot find a Materials Safety Data Sheet for Roman Cleanser so I can't tell you. I did run across several lawsuits that had been filed against the company for some reason. It appears they may not be in business any more, at least not under the name Roman Cleanser Company.
Thank you for the information. And I will check.
Bacteria in the mouth had been thought to possibly increase heart issues. But, most likely after heart surgery, you might be on blood thinners, and this could be very serious if you need dental work done, dental surgery.
For many years, I had to take antibiotics before having dental work done as I have a heart murmur. That expectation has changed now.
It is amazing to us that medical physicians look down on dentists when everything that comes into the body has to come in through the mouth, surgery that is done on the mouth has to be done on a part of the body that has to be CONTINUED to be used after surgery daily and continually while healing, unlike surgery in the rest of the body, all surgical adhesives were developed by dentists, as were surgical metal implant materials. The muscles of the mouth, jaw, and tongue are far more complex than almost any other part of the body and the mouth is the only place where the skeleton sticks through the skin. . . into the dirtiest place of the environment. Medical Physicians ignore the medicine of the mouth and it's environment and what effects they have on the body. Their education is woeful when it comes to oral issues.
We know that ORAL spirochetes are the cause of many diseases in the body, but getting funding to find out much more about how that happens is like, ahem, pulling teeth. 95% of all Alzheimer's brains are swarming with Oral Spirochetes when autopsied . . . and the other 5%, they didn't look. The plaques are filled with the dead bodies of oral spirochetes as a framework that holds the other crud that makes up the plaques in such things as Coronary Artery Disease, Peripheral Artery Disease, Adult Onset Diabetes, and every where else we've looked at plaque related diseases.
These are all long term etiology diseases that take 20-30 years to develop and require, we think, bleeding gums for the oral spirochetes to gain access to the blood system.
Having bleeding gums is equal to having an open sore the size of the palm of your hand. It's a super-highway into the blood stream for bacteria from the mouth because the seals around the teeth are compromised.
Thanks so much for the update! I have been using Clorox as a germicidal/anti-fungal for years, but just started the mouth rinse use in the last three years. Good to know there is still a version available for this purpose.
That's exactly how he described the situation. It was apparently the surgeon who set that requirement, not a dentist.
Respectful to the heart surgeon, but as a dentist, he's a great heart surgeon. . . don't trust him to do dentistry and the dentists won't do heart surgery. He's not qualified to make such a diagnosis. He doesn't have the education or the training to know what he is looking at. All he can see is that the gums may look really bad, but the teeth themselves. Some minor surgery on the gums with appropriate follow-up might save everything. The wounds from pulling the teeth will be just as bad as the bleeding gums and take just as long to heal.
OK, thanks good to know. Will have to mix some up
One is Dakin's Solution for oral hygiene.
Another is germicidal treatment of surfaces.
and yet another is the use as a purifying agent in drinking water.
Surface treatments require a threshold level of germicidal activity only, so long as they don't eat the surface, so concentration is not so critical.
With Dakin's solution you have a target amount, but nonreactive adulterants might not be a problem because of limited exposure time. If it tastes like 'spring meadow', oh well, so long as it works.
People are relying on some form of bleach or pool shock solution to purify water, sometimes on a day to day basis, for others in the event of disaster or breakdown in ordinary services. For sanitizing water for consumption, however, ideally, there should ideally be only what is needed for germicidal action.
When I did a search, the result was this:
Ultra Clorox® Germicidal Bleach (Discontinued) This product has been discontinued.
Chlorox Germicidal Bleach webpage
SDS (not MSDS) data is found at this site (PDF)
Thanks for your research, Joe.
Our primary Implant doctor looked over the latest version, Clorox® Germicidal Bleach-1 (Concentrated), and it's list of ingredients for our use in the dental office and has approved it. . . but not any of the others, after being diluted to Dakin's solution level. The only addition is the same sodium hydroxide buffering that was in the original that they've added to raise the pH so that it doesn't degrade too rapidly, and to raise the concentration from the original's 7% to 8.25% sodium hypochlorite. From what he could see, except for the 8.25%, it is identical to the original, discontinued version.
The proper proportion now is 24 to 1 water to Clorox. . . but he says that is not that important. As long as your mix is somewhere around there, you're good. You can weaken it by adding more water if you like. . . but it will last less time the more water you add. His exact phrasing is that anywhere from 10 to 50 to 1 is safe. . . but I certainly would not want to taste 10 to 1 Clorox. And, I think that 50 to 1 might be considerably less effective.
Keep in mind that the company DID discontinue their Blue Cap coding system which differentiated between their original unadulterated germicidal Bleach product and all their adulterated scented or enhanced products.
This concentrated product should work fine he says for our purposes as well as purifying agent in drinking water.
I suspect our flurry of outrage over the weekend made Clorox realize they did NOT have this product on their website or SDS page, because it appeared sometime Saturday night after we were discussing it. I think someone may picked up on it and may have notified them and they said "Oops" and quickly put it up, because I know it was not there when I first was looking . . . and it was there later.
I also learned they DID have the product available because I found that Costco was selling it in 3-Packs and went looking for it on Clorox's website to double check what Costco was listing about it and could not find it even doing a search. It made me wonder if it was a product that was ONLY available commercially or just through Costco. So I went looking for a commercial only Clorox page. . . no go.
Yup, looked on the “professional” site, which is why I did not find a “commercial” listing. . . and there I found the listing for the Clorox® Germicidal Bleach. . . I think they moved the data over to the consumer site Saturday night, quick down and dirty. LOL!
