GOP presidential hopeful Donald Trump is a lifetime member of the NRA and a concealed carry permit holder who believes the advantages an armed citizenry provides to America are so evident as to be beyond “debate.”
In a recent interview with Ammoland, Trump said:
I am a Life Member of the NRA and am proud of their service in protecting our right to keep and bear arms. The NRA’s efforts to stop dangerous, gun-banning legislation and regulation is invaluable. The media focus on those efforts overshadows the great work the NRA does on behalf of safety and conservation.
He went on to talk about this “permit to carry” in New York and said, “I know firsthand the challenges law-abiding citizens have in exercising their Second Amendment rights.”
Trump cited figures showing how concealed carry impacts crime and focused on how—”right to carry states”—enjoy a lower “violent crime” and a “lower murder rate” than other parts of the country...
Ammoland asked Trump about a statement he made 15 years ago regarding “assault weapons,” trying to ascertain where Trump stands on the ongoing opposition to AR-15s from people like Senator Dianna Feinstein (D-CA). Trump responded by saying he believes the left’s targeted assault on AR-15s is really just an extension of the left’s usual habit of going after whatever it is that Americans love at a given moment.
Because of this, he said they focus on things that are non-essential—like grips, magazines, etc.

You mention that the media describes the AR-15 as an “assault rifle,” which is one example of the many distortions they use to sell their agenda. However, the AR-15 does not fall under this category. Gun-banners are unfortunately preoccupied with the AR-15, magazine capacity, grips, and other aesthetics, precisely because of its popularity.

A concealed carry permit in NY, and in NYC is extremely rare.
And I like that he wants reciprocity across all 50 states.
If we can have reciprocity for an atrocity like gay marriage, we sure as heck should have it for an inalienable right.

And repeal that stoopid Clinton Error (intended to be spelled that way) on our finest aka our Military from carrying on base and may I add off base. I'd have no trouble with them shopping in Wallyworld, at the bank, or dare I say dropping their kids off at school, with their side arm in it's holster on their side.
I’d be thrilled silly if I could carry a gun “just” in my own Freak State.
Does that mean I could get a permit in WV where I don’t live and it would be legal in MD where I do live?

Roger that as these days we have another million plus Muslims in the USA due to the Muslim in the White House. After the shootings at Ft Hood our military should have been authorized to carry immediately. When they wear that uniform and leave their quarters for work or leave their job they should be allowed to carry until they take their uniform off at the minimum.
I lived in Manhattan for several years in the 90s and carried every day that I didn't have to go into buildings with metal detectors {there were not as many 20+ years ago}.
I did not have a carry permit but there were 2,000 murders a year {about 5.5 a day, every day} in NYC in those days and walking the street or riding the subway was a life threatening experience.
Many people that I knew also carried without a permit. Today, because of all the metal detectors, I would be almost impossible to go any where.
GO CRUZ AND TRUMP.
