Meanwhile, as Trump promises to rid the country of illegal aliens within 2 years, Ben Carson wants to give them guest worker status, and defends his stance with the doubtful claim that enforcing immigration law would lead to paying $4 for a tomato because only foreigners from the Third World are willing to work on farms.
To the extent it is true that Americans are unwilling to work on farms despite the alarmingly low labor force participation rate, this is a matter to be resolved by reining in the welfare state, not by leaving the border open.
Conservatives may also have a hard time swallowing this:

Carson gave an interview to the Post-Dispatch on Friday afternoon after visiting Ferguson. When asked if he would have shot Brown if he were in Wilson’s shoes, Carson said: “It’s hard to say. I probably, knowing who he was, I probably just would have arrested him.”

A Justice Department investigation concluded that Wilson had reason to fear for his life and thus couldn’t be prosecuted for fatally shooting the unarmed 18-year-old.
Suggesting that Darren Wilson had any choice is playing along with the liberal narrative — that is, ignoring reality and thereby splashing gasoline on the fire.
Carson’s heart is in the right place. He would make a great Surgeon General. But he does not appear to be the guy to undo Obama’s damage as President
Don’t make excuses for him. He said what he said because of the Ferguson atmosphere...pro black....anti police.

And that’s exactly why the “new patriotism” and our national pride should be; young, able bodied, strong young men to act like men and organize. Then go to wherever these invaders are soaking up American jobs and kick every single one of them out of our fields and factories by taking the jobs. It would probably be much more honorable and patriotic than fighting in a military whose hands are tied by a Muslim traitor and whose effectiveness is being made a mockery of by our enemies.
The real American man needs to get off his knees where the media and Feme-whatsits have put them and make a comeback. It most likely wouldn’t hurt some women to experience what real physical labor is in their youth before retiring to their cubicles and treadmills for life either.
But I’m sure our legal system has already fixed that by some more obscure laws preventing Americans from taking American jobs from foreign invaders.
He’s made a few bad comments within the last few days. I’ll be interested to see what his polling numbers are with this week’s data included.
He’s another Colin Powell. Be afraid.

I’ll have you know Mr. Good Doctor; I am not from some third world sh#thole and I work on my farm every single goddamn day.
I wouldn’t have some criminal damn wetback on my farm if I got the labor for free.

Carson occupies the “Scott Walker Spot” of this primary. A candidate polling in the top-tier, but absolutely no one can tell you why. A candidate less exciting than watching milk turn, and has as much passion as wet cardboard. Who also has no idea why they are there, and will eventually crash and burn by just saying something.
Gosh, I sure would like another arrogant, know-it-all black guy to lecture down to me for the next four to eight years.

Yes! He may be pandering for black votes but by that comment, he lost conservative votes. I never supported Carson for president. I had hoped he’d take the position of Secretary of Health (whatever that title is) and put it out of business.
Slowly but surely black conservatives are comming forth accepting the reality that Obama created this hyphenation of Americans using race for his own political purposes. Which I’ve been posting here in FR’s for years explaining that it was employed as a political tactic to defer any constitutional questioning action of the 1st branch by the 2nd branch of government.

The sad part is we do have a black candidate now in second place in current polling running for POTUS who has yet to speakout on this matter. Until he will he does not deserve consideration to be our POTUS

Good on you! Since I grew up working in cotton fields, I take issue with his position. Let’s make welfare checks conditional on working for all able bodied citizens.

Carson didn’t stumble. Instead we were too ENTRANCED by the thought of a respectable black being president that we didn’t bother to find out just who he was.
Now we know.

I had no idea. A Dr of all people should have known that Zimmerman’s head could not withstand being slammed into concrete indefinitely. I know that, and I’m not even a crack pediatric surgeon.
The $4 tomato canard is easily destroyed with a simple 30 second mental exercise. A man can easily pick 500 tomatoes in an hour. Assuming his wages increase by $10 per hour that means the cost per tomato picked is increased by 2 cents. This will hardly lead to much of a price increase at the supermarket. Carson again fails in even the most simple economic problem solving.
I agree with you. I think the eventual ticket will be Trump/Walker.
I don’t think Carson is a conservative. He was a democrat for years and still talks like a democrat. His immigration plan is terrible. I suspect he’s the new GOPe pick to try and knock off Trump, not that they want him winning the nomination, that’s reserved for Bush or Kasich. Listening to The Five a few minutes ago they went gaga over Carson’s liberal plan of letting all illegals stay in the states. Not even Bolling would criticize him. He can do no wrong in the eyes of Fox right now because he’s gaining on the hated Trump.
People will do farm labor. Farmers need to pay a living wage. I work part time on a fruit and vegetable farm.Not one of us is an illegal. I absolutely love it. It’s being outside, hard work that keeps me strong and healthy. They pay a good wage for good help. The only problem is it’s not year round work. So some leave and go to the local mountain in the winter and work the ski lifts. There is unemployment available to those that don’t hold another job.
As far as the $4.00 tomato, if you go to a local farmers market and get one , you’re going to pay that much.
That’s great. There is a lot to be said for working outside. I grew up on a farm and once chemicals and machines began to replace manual labor, I worked the summers in local fruit orchards. That is how I earned money for college. I enjoyed it, too.
