BAYONNE -- After a yearlong battle with stomach cancer, Marcy Borders -- the woman known as the "Dust Lady" from the iconic photo taken of her as she escaped from the Twin Towers on Sept. 11 -- has died, according to Facebook posts by multiple family members.
Michael Borders, Marcy Borders' brother, said in a Facebook post at 11:22 a.m. yesterday that he needed everyone to pray for her, before posting about 12 hours later: "I can't believe my sister is gone."

My beloved friend and Agent Jeff was in NYC sitting shiva for his stepdad and staying at the WTC Marriott.
Tuesday morning he stepped out of his hotel onto to the sidewalk at the exact moment the first plane went in to the South Tower.
He stood rooted to the spot until the collapse, and then ran with all the other dust covered people.
He is still alive and well, thank God, but it was the most traumatic moment of his life, and we still talk about it.
Muslims likely killed this woman.
let’s not forget that.
The minute I saw these images on 9-11-01, I felt like these poor souls were in for ill health followed by early death. Along with all those who started digging without protection - probably without thinking, except to try to help.
Too bad most of us don’t carry a men’s large cotton handkerchief. It could have been of some help.
Those who survive are very fortunate. Who knows why one lives and the other dies.
Actually, much depends on one’s immune system.
But who would anticipate such an assault on the immune
system - ???

You have to think it did contribute as it has with so many 9/11 first responders.
So tragic, dying at age 42. However, in 2001 she would have been 28. Looking at the photo in an earlier comment, I think she looks rather thin, especially if you look at her calves. I wonder if she might have been somewhat anorexic or already had some kind of stomach problems. Of course, the stress from that near death experience would have made any other problem worse.
Thinking about the recent Chinese Tianjin explosion, they already have identified 139 dead with 34 still unaccounted for. The safety chief has been fired with suspicion of corruption, and 12 executives arrested. Just as in 9/11 firemen took a big hit, on Aug. 17th when only 112 at Tianjin were identified as dead, at least 39 firemen were already identified as dead. There will be more. A few days ago over 600 were still hospitalized and 6,000 forced to find housing elsewhere. If 700 tons of sodium cyanide were exploded, then future poisoning illness and death is almost inevitable although the government seems to be sending in trained hazmat teams with gear.

A relative is a NY certified architect. Back in 2001 he said that the buildings collapsed because the burning aviation fuel was so hot that it burned through the steel beam insulation which caused them to fail. This person was pretty far left, but did not believe any of the right and left wing conspiracy theories regarding bombs in the building and the like. I read your link, but saw nothing about a two hour rule. I think I was told 1 hour, but my memory might be wrong after 14 years.
That event shocked so many. The “dust lady” lost so many coworkers and friends that she, “...fell into a decade-long depression that led her to abuse alcohol and drugs after her traumatic experience on 9/11. In 2011, Borders checked into rehab, and has stayed clean since, she told The Jersey Journal last year.
Borders, a mother of two, was just getting back into the working world — helping with a candidate’s local campaign for mayor — when her doctor told her in August 2014 that she had stomach cancer.” What a tragedy when she was finally getting her life back on track.
I gotta believe it did, she breathed in tons of noxious poison. Add her to the list of victims AFAIC.
Trauma like that does horrible things to people.
Anyone who had to breathe through their mouth in that miasma most likely ingested enough asbestos dust to trigger alimentary tract cancer.
But, I would have expected lung cancer, first...
I'm amazed that there aren't alot more cases like hers.

I drive by a construction site (hospital/rehab/offices) and this is the first building I’ve seen appears to be premade concrete walls. They’ve got 2-3 walls up with braces, several stories high. I know some construction companies use premade (below ground) foundation walls but I’ve never seen this walls going up and no steel or wood framing first.
