" If it really were a SHTF scenario, money would be practically worthless so withdrawing it from the bank would be a waste of time."

Not true. In the nascent stages of panic, a wise person will use his scarce cash for staple items that will skyrocket in value in the coming months.

Yeah, I made it all up. Things were just great in Northern Missouri during that time period. They actually lived like Hapsburgs.

I hold myself to Ezekiel 33:6

But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet, so that the people are not warned, and the sword comes and takes any one of them, that person is taken away in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at the watchman’s hand.

Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps (2010)

Gordon Gekko: Someone reminded me I once said "Greed is good". Now it seems it's legal. Because everyone is drinking the same Kool Aid.

We are watching life imitate art and the problem is a third don't even realize it and another third don't believe what their own sense are telling them.

I’ve had enough grief in my life for three lifetimes I certianly need no more.

I stand by my reason given in post #66 this thread.

Ok I have a question and see if any freeper can answer. When the SHTF comes and of course many will not be able to pay their bills including rent. Will a large number of people be evicted from their apartments?

Not without a fight I imagine.........

It won’t be long before people realize cash is useless, but having an immediate supply on hand would actually be quite helpful.

I've honestly never given much thought to the various SHTF scenario's, but I have to admit that I'm pretty damn' nervous right now with so many "experts" saying to stock up on foodstuffs, water, fuel and cash.

Our pantry typically always has at least 3 months supplies. Adding water and cash to them is no big deal for us. Ammunition I never get low on.

What makes me most nervous is the shortage of medicines and first aid supplies that are sure to hit hard and near immediately. I have to take a biologic drug for a condition I have. Without that biologic I physically get in alot of trouble in a big hurry. Stocking up on that is a near impossibility due to cost ($2k/Mo.) and strict federal controls around it.

Looks like I'm in for a slow, agonizing death in a SHTF scenario.

I’m in the same boat as you. Need medicine twice a day for diabetes and a heart condition. When the SHTF, I don’t expect the pharmacists will still be at their stations. I’m going to look into getting my meds in 3-month quantities.

I wouldn’t say evicted. If S->fan, the apartments will empty, but not because of evictions :-(

Definitely get your meds in 3 month quantities, if you can.

My daughter takes Nexium and she’s stocking up on OTC nexium...just to have, just in case. I know most Rx’s aren’t OTC, though.

my dtr is on Medicaid and I don't know if she can get her meds so far in advance...and she will crash if she doesn't continue with them...

this is a particular bad time for the economy to crash because of some foolish money wasting on my part....

but we do have food....we have some water...we have a garden...we have each other...

but tomorrow, I'm going to do a Costco run for a big bag of sugar and a big bag of flour, just in case....plenty of rice, plenty of pasta, tuna, canned chicken, beef, etc...

I found a good source for online Rx fills. The medicines come from different locations outside the US, but are generics produced by reliable companies. You can also search online for a coupon discount code.

Canada Drugs

It is legal and I found their prices were lower than my current deductible. They are a bit slow because of international shipping (2.5 weeks). You can scan your Rx and email it to them. Hope this helps.

If you need a drug, I’m sorry. You’d definitely be SOL unless you can figure out how to manufacture it yourself.

For those that don’t know, you can get human antibiotics under the guise of fish antibiotics at places like fishmoxfishflex.com (just don’t get Tetracycline).
