Couldn’t a few millimeters hole be drilled through the wall and the other side investigated via fiber optic video feed?
To: SunkenCiv
I hope he has a non-Moslem army guarding him and the site. This is NOT a good time to find stuff like this in Egypt.

Well, plenty of Moundbuilder sites have been ruined or cleared here in North America but the first nail in the coffin was Hrdlicka, who “outlawed” and delegitimized the search for PreColumbian contact; another was the goofy idea that the antiquity of humans in the Americas only went back perhaps 3000 years; the next one was Clovis-first-and-only; the most recent nail was NAGPRA.

Ideally, yeah. We’ll have to wait and see. If Zahi were in charge now, he’d be loudly condemning the notion that there’s anything there, then would wait a few years while not-too-cautious employees were quietly hacksawing through the walls; if there were anything there, he’d then have everything set up for the big reveal, march in with cameras in tow, and take credit for the “new” discovery. But at least it would get done. Not sure there will be much right now, unless there’s a lot of money coming in to do it.

I called it:
> Egyptologist Zahi Hawass went a little further, telling Ahram Online that a study like Reeves’ is just a “theory” based on the mere examination of 3D photos and not field work inside the tomb. “Reeves study is a theory for fame and publicity and not based on archaeological or scientific evidences,” Hawass said.

"My understanding is that the Egyptians are in a state of denial about this," one unnamed scientist told the Guardian (even science reporting apparently requires anonymous sources sometimes). "They are freaking out, and it has become politically toxic. When you're the in the middle of a situation in which people are being purged because of their position on this, then scientists should back off and let the politics take its course. We have left the realm of science." The Egyptian government has so far refused to address the issue, but scientists quoted in National Geographic, which organized the second round of radar scans, said flatly that the rooms aren't there. [Scientists Say Egypt is in Denial Over Hidden Rooms in King Tut's Tomb]
from "Another new tomb in the Valley of the Kings: 'KV64'" [2006]
Here's a fun, fringe source:
In 1998, when the Amarna Royal Tombs Project was granted permission to search for new tombs in the Valley of the Kings, Nicholas Reeves recalled the information once given by Egypt's infamous seer Om Sety. In the book, Om Sety's Egypt -- A Story of Ancient Mysteries, Secret Lives, and the Lost History of the Pharaohs, by Hanny el Zeini and Catherine Dees, Om Sety talked about Nefertiti's tomb:
Chapter 18, "She Who Waits: Finding Nefertiti (p. 265). "Now, about the tomb of Nefertiti", [Omm Sety] continued, sounding a bit hesitant. "I did once ask His Majesty where it was, and he told me. He said, 'Why do you want to know?' I said I would like to have it excavated, and he said, 'No, you must not. We don't want anything more of this family known'. But he did (p. 266) tell me where it was, and I can tell you this much. It's in the Valley of the Kings, and it's quite near to the Tutankhamun tomb. But it's in a place where nobody would ever think of looking for it," she laughed. "And apparently it is still intact." [Egos Clash Behind Stall in Search for Nefertiti's Tomb | Dr. Kathy Forti | Amarna Royal Tombs Project | May 19, 2016]
The possibility exists that the Amarna burials were moved to the KV by King Tut during his short reign.
Perhaps the most immediately visible sign of this activity is the trench; & sandbag wall, that has appeared, in the central area of the Valley, between tombs KV. 9 (Ramesses V/VI) & KV. 57 (Horemheb)... It is the belief of the Amarna Royal Tombs Project expedition, in the light of the above evidence, that it is possible that Tutankhamun diverted the resources that would normally be devoted to the construction of his own tomb into the construction of a series of cache tombs for the re-interment of those members of his family who had originally been buried at Akhetaten & that it is within this small are at the centre of the Kings Valley that any further such tombs are most likely to lie.
It is a little known fact that Howard Carter did not excavate every part of the Kings Valley, down to bedrock in his search for Tutankhamun... As KV. 62 was discovered almost immediately upon clearing part of a Ramesside workmens settlement, a large part of this central area has never been excavated & it is within this area that the current excavations are taking place... in the area between tombs KV. 9 (Ramesses V/VI) & KV. 57 (Horemheb), along the northern side of the spur leading from the Valley centre to KV. 35 (Amunhetep II). As tombs, KV. 56 (The Gold Tomb) & KV. 57 lie within this area it has been decided that clearance & recording of them should also be undertaken by the current excavations... fragments of the sarcophagus & canopic chest of Horemheb, originating from Davis clearance of KV. 57 (& giving some indication of the poor manner in which this was conducted) were found; with the former having since been restored to its original position on this monument. Velikovsky recounted that, in the 19th c, a bunch of stuff apparently from Nefertitis tomb showed up on the antiquities markets in Egypt, suggesting that her burial was found and plundered by modern tomb robbers.
A tiny gold scarab inscribed with Nefertitis name was found on the Ulu Burun wreck.
My further thinking (which I think I've expressed elsewhere) is that the Ulu Burun scarab suggests that her tomb was plundered in antiquity. Given that a cache of many NK pharaohs' mummies was found, it's possible that her disturbed burial, and those of other royal women, were moved to a similar cache for mummies of non-pharaohs, and that was what was found in the 19th century.
