A tomb dating to the 18th Dynasty has been discovered by a team from the American Research Center in the Gorna necropolis on Luxors west bank. The t-shaped tomb has two large halls and an unfinished small niche at one end. A side room has a shaft that could lead to the burial chamber, Minister of Antiquities Mamdouh el-Damaty told Ahram Online. The walls of the tomb, which was looted and damaged in antiquity, are decorated with paintings of hunting scenes and images of the tombs owner, a guard of Amuns gate, and his wife in front of an offering table. Some of the scenes and hieroglyphic texts, including the name of the god Amun, had been erased. Soltan Eid, director of Upper Egypt Antiquities, explained that this may have been done during the reign of the monotheistic king Akhenaten.

So no more Zahi Hawass?
Zahi Hawass got accused of theft (something like removing something from a tomb without permission) and got canned last I heard. Here is a link to the article
I would love to hear them find an intact tomb in our lifetime. We’ve seen the tut exhibit on multiple occasions. Such treasures... Just imagine what has been lost to humanity.
Where the shaft really goes at Luxor......
Damn DIYers...
MAKE IT RIGHT!
ISIS would destroy the contents of such finds if it could get to them.
He got the boot (for all practical purposes) during the late regime of Mo Morsi. He’s been in court continually since, two, three different sets of charges. I’m pretty sure he won’t ever return to authority again.
The finds in Tanis—two Tombs entact—were discovered by the French in 1942—but—because of WW II it never got the public notice of King Tut. The solid silver coffin is wonderful! Check it out. One Pharaoh Ramaese VIII has never been found in the Valley of the Kings—so it might still be untouched.
The wall art looks like a really cool find.
I’ve been in a “road show” reproduction of the tomb of (I think) Seti I, and while the colors were a little dark, basically every inch was painted. The walls of these tombs were left rough, then plastered, the initial carbon drawing of the eventual work was put on, then the master painter inspected and corrected that, and finally the painting was done, basically the same steps used in European fresco.
Thanks!
