Why? Is it because the Milwaukee jpolice refuse to chase criminals? Or, are people just driving more sensibly?

Must be safer cars as Milwaukee freeway drivers are a wild bunch, and there are the wild ones from the sick State of Ill.

The trend everywhere is down significantly.
Cars are much safer.
The ambulance chaser lawyers have seen a big drop in business and are after the SocSec disability claims now.

Global Warming is the cause of everything. I’m not quite sure how Global Warming is lowering traffic deaths in Wisconsin, I’m only glad that it is.

Oh, isn’t this RICH?
All the hand-wringing that raising the speed limit to 70 MPH on major highways and our piece of the Interstate would be the DEATH of us all!

Wisconsin hit a seven-decade low for highway deaths in 2013, when 527 people lost their lives on Wisconsin road. That was down from a high of 1,168 in 1972. Air bags, less drunk driving.

I would like see another four lane from Tomah to Oshkosh. That could relieve a lot of traffic around Madison. I’m amazed there aren’t more accidents on the weekends on 90-94 because there are so many vehicles bumper to bumper.

"Air bags, less drunk driving."
Plus, seat belts, better roads and better cars. The traffic deaths have gone down nationwide despite about one hundred million more people in the country and millions more drivers since the seventies. Almost halved which is remarkable.
As far as younger people go, many times when there is a report of teens or young adults killed in an auto accident, they were thrown from the vehicle. Unfortunately, many young people hate to wear seat belts.

Safer cars and less driven miles due to the economy.
