You Tell Me Why
by Ron Elliot
Copyright 1965 Clears Music, Inc./BMI
recorded by Leo Kottke on:
"Ice Water" 1973 (Capitol Records)
You tell me that I must not cry
You tell me all good things must die
You ask me why I get upset
You tell me that I will forget
Tell me why
You tell me I won't be blue for long
You say I'll find a love that's strong
You tell me she was not for me
That's just the way love's got to be
Tell me why
You tell me I will find my way
Tomorrow won't be like today
You tell me life was meant to be
One-third good two-thirds misery
Tell me why
You tell me that I must not cry
You tell me all good things must die
You ask me why I get upset
You tell me that I will forget
Tell me why

Tell my why you cried
And why you lied to me
Tell my why you cried
And why you lied to me
Well I gave you everything I had
But you left me sitting on my own
Did you have to treat me oh so bad?
All I do is hang my head and moan
Tell my why you cried
And why you lied to me
Tell my why you cried
And why you lied to me
And if something I have said or done
Tell my what and I’ll apologize
If you don’t I really can’t go on
Holding back these tears in my eyes
Tell my why you cried
And why you lied to me
Tell my why you cried
And why you lied to me
Well I’m beggin’ on my bended knees
If you’ll only listen to my pleas
Is there anything I can do?
‘Cause I really can’t stand it
I’m so in love with you
Tell my why you cried
And why you lied to me
Tell my why you cried
And why you lied to me

Some FReepers see things as they could be, and ask "Why not?" chinaboy sees things as they are, and asks, "Why?"

Just giving myself a shoutout from way back here in a post in the first 50 posts on a thread that has the look of one of those 3,500 post undead threads.

The same reason old Italian men hide their money in the wall, because they don't think they're going to die. That or how far can a dog run into the woods?

It’s global warming snow which usually falls when the temperature drops below 90 degrees .... trust me, Mann, Jones, Hansen, Gore and His Arrogance will back me up.

Don’t ask me why. Ask a lib they have all of the answers. And every couple of years they have a correct answer.

My grandmother was in the hospital and I spent about six hours waiting for her to get some procedures done and I saw four prints of those nature scenes with the faces of Native Americans hidden in them on the hallway walls. I enjoyed seeing how many I could find and then when I gave up I Googled the paintings to see how many I missed.

Bev Doolittle; my wife and I have always liked her stuff. We got a matted, framed limited edition print of the image I posted for a wedding present 30 years ago.
