Why Did Kennedy Crash?
In the last few minutes before Kennedy's little single-engine airplane went into the heavy seas off Martha's Vineyard, its radar track showed all the evidence of a mind wobbling in the tortured confusion called vertigo. This confusion steered Kennedy down a horrifying spiral to his death on that hot and hazy night in July. If you've ever felt the searing pain of belly-flopping off a diving board, you might rightly suspect that hitting the water at high speed is an impact not much different from colliding with a granite cliff.
The kind of bafflement and panic that killed Kennedy arises in a mind as it struggles with the contradictory signals of its inner ear and its rational faculty. Reason and emotion are at war. The inner ear evolved over millennia to measure one's movement in relation to the fixed sensation of gravity. Gravity always acts as a vector pointing straight down to the center of the earth. The inner ear is equipped with tubes of liquid that shift in response to any movement while the mind compares these signals against this fixed sensation of gravity. This balancing apparatus signals the pilot's mind and says, You are strapped into a seat that is now as level as if you were sitting squarely at your kitchen table.
By contrast, at the same moment he was feeling perfectly right-side-up, the aircraft instruments, when correctly interpreted, conveyed the message, Your wings are tilted steeply to the right of level, the nose of this airplane is pointing way down, and your airspeed is already howling past the red line.

Most likely.
Never accept a ride from a Kennedy. Or a football game invite, even touch.
Don’t ski close to them. If you see one with a golf club, run.
The Kennedys: human pinballs.
“Master Kennedy, would you like to clean up before take off?”
“No, Benson. I’ll wash up on shore.”
PS Oh yeah, and Uncle Ted practically had the Navy flying and the Coast Guard dragging the ocean bottom for weeks.
He’d do the same for your nephew. But Ted’s dead too.
And thank G_d for that.
Good piece. I once had a magnetic screwdriver placed in a teak cup holder, which in turn was in front of a compass. I was literally driven mad in the early morning hours of a certain day on a certain approach in a certain sea, and asked a crew-mate to in effect evaluate me psychologically. He looked at the compass for awhile, checked under the binnacle and found the screwdriver. He still teases me about that. I miss Kenny Bunk on threads like this!
After the crash El Rushbo read something called IIRC “You have sixty seconds left to live”. It describes a disoriented pilot going from level flight to final impact as the narrator says “you have zero seconds left to live”.
The most chilling thing I have ever heard on Rush’s show.
What was even more macabre was Teddy Swimmer Kennedy using his power to order the remains of all the victims to be cremated without autopsies. Then a mass funeral was held on the deck of a Navy ship & the ashes were scattered at sea.
Destroying any evidence.
McCain was known by his peers as a crappy pilot. He was carried through flight school until he passed because he was a ‘legacy’; his father and grandfather were admirals and aviators. He also crashed 4 or 5 aircraft in non-combat situations before he was shot down. He had an earned reputation before ever being shot down.
Ninety percent of his flight was safely complete. But he decided to take a small shortcut over water at the end, rather than stay over the coastline. The shortcut probably would have saved him five minutes at the most.
McStain should have washed out of flight school, but since his daddy was a admiral they kept him. IIRC he was shot down on his first mission
He was flying in IMC or near IMC conditions but he was not ontrument rated.
Yup. I’m a 20-year military aviator. All helicopter time so admittedly not a ton of IMC time. I’ll tell you one thing, I learned a healthy respect for the weather after icing almost killed me a couple times. This guy was a rich asshole who bought a plane, logged a few hours and thought he was an expert. Very common to the Kennedy Clan - the asshole gene.
Obama and Hillary(!) were neck and neck into the convention, then two of her superdelegates were found dead - and she backed down. Message received and understood.
I’ve asked Nachum here to help us out...
Good synopsis. JFK jr. should have been flying IFR but was not instrument rated as far as I know and was a low hour amateur pilot. Poor judgment coupled with poor flying skills and weather got himself killed as well as 2 other people.
My ex boyfriend and I made the mistake of coming in VFR once in a rainstorm and he’s a good pilot and instrument rated. We were so close to the airport and we just wanted to get home so we took the chance and the weather closed down on us. It was pretty hairy for a few minutes but we got down and kissed the ground. We should have turned around and gone out about 30 miles and shot an instrument approach. We made a pact never ever again. That was one of the stupidest things we ever did. Really stupid.
McCain crashed a jet while he was in advanced flight training at Corpus Christi, Texas. he tried to blame engine failure but a Navy investigation blamed McCain’s inattention to altitude.
His daddy kept him in planes though and he would later take out power in Spain while being a complete jackass.
Also my own dad said never to trust this daddies boy on anything said about the Forrestal incident.
Put to point, McCain was terrible pilot who had a daddy that kept him in expensive tax payer funded planes. Now he has suckers who vote for him, that keep him in expensive tax payer funded planes.
Women Killed by a Kennedy
Honorable Mention (Didn't quite kill the victim)

Roger that.
His mother did not want him flying , because I suspect she knew he was going to fail at that. He waited to train as a pilot after she died.
Because he was a Kennedy, he became the anointed one. Even though a failure, a Senate seat was waiting for him. If he was still alive he could possibly be the Democrat front runner for a Presidential nomination.. Maybe this Presidential cycle.
Instead, he killed himself, his wife and sister in law .
Was this the type of person you would want as a Senator or President? Harsh statement, but true.
At least he had the sense to dump Daryl Hannah!
Beat me to it. Right on target.
