Amazon's #PrimeDay launched on Wednesday as the company bragged the sales would be even better than Black Friday's.
However, Amazon users were not impressed with the sales the e-commerce site offered, and many users took to Twitter to express their displeasure. #PrimeDayFail and #PrimeDay both trended as the complaints poured in.
"Either I'm missing something or the @amazon prime sale is a joke. Everything I want is full price. #PrimeDayFail," said one user. "This #PrimeDay sucks ... its like a digital garage sale," said another.

Yesterday's so called Prime Day was a joke. The only thing I was half interested in was a Makita tool set.

Someone mentioned a week or two ago that Amazon has not actually started making money yet. Does anyone know if this is true? I was a bit shocked...

That is correct. Whatever money Bezos makes he plows back into Amazon.

I saw an inexpensive laptop was upcoming for sale in 15 min. So I checked it out, ordinarily $230 or so. When the deal went live, it was being sold for $166. What a great deal! So I clicked on it (it must have been less than 2 seconds after the deal went "live") and got the "100% claimed" message. I suspect that the fix was already in.
Smells like a complete fraud to me.

The sale prices looked good to me, I was just too late to the party.

I live in a small town in central KY. I moved here from Seattle. Everyone I meet thinks I work for Amazon because they have a warehouse here. They have a reputation for being slave drivers with high turnover and, interestingly, they may come into a problem my last company had: Their call center burned through the entire “employable” population of the surrounding area and had to close up shop and move to a different state.
Ten buck an hour to be treated like children. But, to be fair, I think the poor managers make $12 an hour, so they are not exactly the cream...

Amazon has the lowest employee retention of Fortune 500 companies. The average tenure is less than one year.

I got several good deals including a Crucial 256gb Solid State Hard drive for 75 bucks delivered. (I got it for even less when I applied a discount I got in an email from Amazon and used two 5 buck Amazon gift cards I get from doing Bing searches.)
I got a 64gb memory stick for 8.95 delivered but had to get on the waiting list for that one. It went fast. I finally got the ship confirmation this morning.

We were expecting Amazon to add a special Prime discount to our Wish List items. Or at least to items that we’ve expressed an interest in or at least clicked on. We don’t just buy stuff because it’s a good deal, we buy what we want and need. FAIL.

Amazon doesn’t say how many laptops are for sale. My guess is, there was only one laptop for sale that’s why it was 100% claimed.

If Amazon isn’t malking money yet, then why are they buying/merging other companies with them? I hated it when W00t became an Amazon partner.
