How long did PC manufacturers keep supplying XP after Vista had been released? At least two years, right?

And as I recall, Dell would still ship you a machine with XP on it even after the Microsoft "drop dead" date, if you asked for it. They didn't list it as an option on their website, but you could still get it by asking.

Why do I now have a “Get Windows 10” icon on my desktop...down in the right hand corner?

If 10 is finished, then it’s the first time for a Windows product.

Mrs p6’s laptop is registered for the July 29 update and both she and I are insiders. I believe MS has already been pushing out W10 components. That could be causing minor issues...longer boot time, background updating, sudden wireless and hardware compatibility strangeness. All very minor but still irritating.

These component packages once in place MAY be why there can be a massive roll out on the 29th.

Or not.

Windows weekly might have the answers on https://twit.tv/ tonight.

If you choose the “free” update don’t forget to save your data!

Microsoft is in pure panic mode. They are not waiting until October, and hitting the gas pedal now.

Apple's iOS 9 beta just rolled out last week. It's suppose to be ready in September.

Google and Amazon also have stuff they are rolling out too.

This should get interesting.

That is good.

Now, they can start on R1 and have it ready when Win10 hits the fan.

Wait until Microsoft issues Service Pack 1 for Windows 10. That will allow its customer to debug its software.
