No casting was announced, although social media speculation immediately centered on Chris Pratt, the ascendant star of Guardians of the Galaxy and Jurassic World.

Other fans were more ambivalent.
I really dont know how I feel about this. No one can be Han Solo except Harrison Ford, said Casey Calvert on Twitter.
Disney said the movies story will explore how young Han Solo became the smuggler and thief whom Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi first encountered in the cantina at Mos Eisley.
This is the first film weve worked on that seems like a good idea to begin with, said Miller and Lord in a statement released by Disney. We promise to take risks, to give the audience a fresh experience, and we pledge ourselves to be faithful stewards of these characters who mean so much to us.
The movie will be produced by Kathleen Kennedy, whose list of credits include E.T., Jurassic Park and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Pudding?
Why is it that when I search for a metaphor, having clothes made of pudding never occurs to me?
Get Jake Lloyd. He’s bound to have improved by now. Or maybe that Mutt guy from Kingdom of the Crystal Meth.
These seemingly endless number of Star Wars movies sounds like a bad idea.
You’ll never be a success in Hollywood.
“Pudding?”
When I saw this, the first thing that popped into my mind was that scene in “Hot Shots” where Lloyd Bridges picks up a mug of what he thinks is coffee, attempts to drink it, has pudding all over his face, and says “Pudding?”.
My next thought was “Thailand?”
That was a book, not a movie.
There are three Han Solo books from the 70’s.
I still have all three on my shelf.
There’s also a series of Han Solo novels from the 90’s by A.C. Crispin.
I still have all three on my shelf.
I've got them too: Han Solo at Star's End, Han Solo's Revenge, and Han Solo and the Lost Legacy, all by Brian Daley. Somewhere along the line I picked up the trilogy in an omnibus edition from a used bookstore.
At least Han Solo at Star's End was also adapted for the daily Star Wars comic strip in the early 80s, as well, which was my first exposure to the story. I think it would make a pretty good movie, actually—I have no memory of the other two books.
Brian Daley also adapted the original trilogy into radio dramas for NPR, which are well worth hearing.

Why on Earth should this even be a problem? You can’t tell me that they can’t take photos of Harrison as a younger man/boy and ‘Pixar’ re-create him, so to speak? Who needs human ACTORS there days?
I mean, I know Orcs aren’t REAL. I know Velociraptors aren’t REAL. But YOU try telling my brain that, LOL!
Thank God.
In Scene One, he flies a Ryan PT-19 over a golf course looking for a gas station
“You cant tell me that they cant take photos of Harrison as a younger man/boy and Pixar re-create him, so to speak?”
Yeah, they did that with Jeff Bridges in the Tron sequel. One of the programs looks like he did 30 years before in the first movie:

Orcs are very real...
harrison ford’s current (i.e. the past 10-15 years) grumpy old liberal schtick has sort of ruined all of his movies for me.
for a guy who has made a boatload of money doing something as unimportant to the world as acting, he sure seems a bit angry at the world.
if they reboot, i hope they get somebody who actually has a likable personality. ford seems to have actual disdain for the fans of his movies.

Excellent.
Perhaps a descendent of Hope Solo? :)
