Just hours after Oregon officials announced that Aaron and Melissa Klein, owners of Sweetcakes by Melissa, would be fined $135,000 for their refusal to bake a cake for a lesbian wedding, Aaron Klein had a message for government officials: He has no plans of backing down.
“He wants to silence anyone who opposes his point of view,” Klein told TheBlaze, speaking specifically about Oregon Labor Commissioner Brad Avakian, who has spearheaded the case against the couple. “Unfortunately, he’s doing this with the wrong Christian, because I fight back.”
Klein also delivered a message to Americans and business leaders about why he believes that his case is monumentally important.
“For years, we’ve heard same-sex marriage will not affect anybody,” he said. “I’m here firsthand to tell everyone in America that it has already impacted people. Christians, get ready to take a stand. Get ready for civil disobedience.”

Thanks for reminding me. I try to follow the scriptures as much as I can, but sometimes I fall short. That’s why I warned Christians in my first response: “You might want to do it, but don’t” so that I would NOT tempt them to do unChristian-like things to provoke their adversaries.
I could have advocated we assemble ourselves and march around Washington D.C. for six days. And on the seventh day, give a great shout in the name of our GOD (not Obama’s). I wonder if the mighty hand of GOD would bring the walls of Washington tumbling down? Now that would be some kind of civil disobedience.
But I know that would be using GOD to justify our wants, not his. He is sovereign and will pick the time and place and method to deal with each situation. In the meantime, we will stand down and not surrender to our temptations.

Civil disobedience is appropriate when someone is asked to do something one is confident is just plain wrong.
That’s what Nuremberg trials were all about: no one should be compelled to act contrary to their conscience.

Yes. Brad Avakian is an elected official. I wonder if it would be possible to petition for his recall. He himself is pandering to voters by sponsoring moveon.org petitions for $15 min wage and so called equal pay for women.
Move on would kick me off their board, or I’d start a petition there. (Maybe worth a try anyway? Just to start the ball rolling?) Maybe an independent website would be better. I’m no techie and don’t know how to set up a website.
I was amazed that even a lot of gays donated to the Kleins; they still stand by the right to dissent and against harassment.
I respectfully disagree. Spies have infiltrated ACORN and recorded them advocating fraud and perjury. Christian women pretending to seek “reproductive health” counseling have exposed a myriad of atrocities.
IMO if I’m afraid another’s depravity might somehow rub off on me, then my faith isn’t very strong to begin with.
