DETROIT (WXYZ) - Detroit and Michigan State Police are investigating after finding a 500 pound pig trapped inside the basement of a Detroit home.
According to Assistant Police Chief Steve Dolunt, an anonymous tip brought investigators to a house in the 10400 block of Orangelawn. They found the pig in a basement standing in feces.
"No pun intended but it looks like a pigsty," Dolunt said. "There's two feet of feces down there."
Dolunt said the caller told police the pig had been fed human remains. However, police did not find anything suspicious.
Neighbors said the man who lived in the home was Gary Roquemore, who was found dead in a nearby house earlier this week.
Police have not identified Roquemore, but have confirmed that the man who owns the pig was found dead of natural causes Tuesday.
Neighbors said the squalid house where the pig was trapped has been an eyesore and a nuisance for years, and police described the owner as a "hoarder." Heavy equipment had to be brought in to clear path for investigators.

My sister thinks ‘this’ will happen to the DOGS that I rescue.
It’s kinda depressing in a Family Dynamics’ way,
REALLY, just causee it happened to all the ‘Women’ I rescued, doesn’t mean DOGS are MORE Vain?
Is this anything like the proverbial boat in the basement. It probably started out as a piglet. Then it grew.
Thats right. Ham it up.
What’s her welfare number?
Why is “500 pound” in scare quotes, as if it means something other than what it says? If I read further, will I find it was really a 100-pound pig?
There is a Gary Roquemore who ran for county commissioner over there last year.

Well she wasn’t always in the basement. She started out in the kitchen but the floor gave way.
Well, that will keep the “She needs a few cheeseburgers” crew happy..........
Was the home owners name Henry Bowman?
Interestingly enough, Gary Roquemore actually sounded like a pretty rational guy. Here he is saying that people need to lighten up about the emergency manager, he didn’t create the problem the city did.

Ain’t no bacon in that one, son.
Not enough flour either!
Jokes (and stench!) aside, I feel sorry for the pig. Pigs are smart and like being around other animals. That pig didn’t get down in the basement by himself.
Isn’t the definition of a Hog an uncommonly large pig?
I’m not talking about motorcycle ‘hogs’.
I suspect the locals there are wondering why such OBESE cops are still permitted on the force.
That neighborhood will talk about ‘The Day that huge pig was found in that basement across the street’ for years. With each telling of the story, the pig will gain more weight, will have devoured more missing people, and have been found standing a foot deeper in waste.
Gary Roquemore has spoken in favor of Detroit residents learning to feed themselves and complained about the city clinging to abandoned property that could be put to better use by letting people grow gardens.
Was the Pig Blind?
Forget WOULD Laz hit it. COULD Laz hit it?
It is obvious there are no “Smokers” in the area. Otherwise there would be a pig pickin going on now around the corner.
