I guarantee this: the Republican nominee for President will make SOME of us unhappy, because "our favorite" didn't get the nod.
Granted.
But every dissenting voice on SCOTUS today affirmed that the question of marriage is one for STATES and not the federal government.
Simply put, Ruth Buzzi Ginsburg is not going to live forever...and if God grants us a more conservative executive next, he or she will have a golden opportunity to OVERTURN this ruling.
I will be voting Republican in the hopes of such a ruling.
Though I do think the society is imploding any way, it is a hope.....
The bottom line is that we are in need of spiritual awakening. The church of Jesus Christ (from all denominations) must repent and love God and neighbour....and at the same time stand up for the TRUTH.
The politics and the policy questions are secondary to the death of our souls.
I urge all of us, me included, to read the Bible more, pray without ceasing, and worship in FELLOWSHIP with other Christ followers. Don't be an island.
God bless you all.
The track record of RINOpublican Supreme Court Justices hasn’t been very good. Spotty at best.
I don’t think any change is coming out of the Republicans. It MAY come from the States. It may not come.
And don’t be discouraged.
Liberals feed on it.
Will there even be a next POTUS election?
Though she was a crappy choice, Reagan had the right idea with Sandra Day O’Connor. Took her out of a state court. A GOP POTUS needs to eschew all the Federal Courts and find someone who will be respectful of states’ rights.
I also think we need a tighter, more loyal selection team. Past SCOTUS screening teams had obviously been infiltrated by Liberals.
I expect the same style of judges from Jeb or Christie, so it matters not a whit.
Will there even be a next POTUS election?

Interesting question. In my opinion, we are only one Supreme Court 5-4 decision away from a dictatorship. I would not be surprised to see that decision in my lifetime. maybe even next term.
In most elections the Republican candidate is also listed on the Conservative line. I vote for the Conservative, effectively voting for the Republican, but sending the Conservative message.
I’ve mentioned martial law in the past, here and to folks I know at work and home and I always got the “get outta here, your crazy that could never happen” reaction. At the risk of sounding a little dramatic, I’m not so sure anymore.
I noticed that you said “I will be voting Republican...” without an qualifications. That makes many here - including me - a bit uncomfortable, But I think you are on the right track.
Liberals fight in the primaries, then come together in the general election. They support any nominee with a (D) after the name.
Many conservatives are not like that. They stay home if the nominee fails certain litmus tests. I totally get that, and respect that. I've done it myself.
But make no mistake about it. The MSM and the handout crowd give any democrat a huge starting advantage. Unless conservatives can get behind the GOP nominee (whoever that is, and as distasteful as that might be), there will be no more GOP presidents. Future Supreme Court appointees will all be versions of Sonya Sotomayor.
Who put Kennedy in place? Oh, that’s right: the RINO I was told to “hold my nose and pull the lever” for.
Nope.
Free Republic STRAW POLL.

I’m strategizing and already pissing off liberals in the process.
I disagree with the Martial Law theory. I truly believe Americans will meekly go along with a Supreme Court decision that fundamentally changes this nation from a Democratic Republic in to a Constitutional Monarchy with little or no protest.
Obamcare? Gay marriage? Abortion? And about twenty others come to mind..
Difference today from what we have seen in the past is, now the Supreme Court is made up of Four hard left socialist, three Constitutionalist, and two swingers that seem to blow with the wind. Add in our current PC environment and current rage to purge anything not PC.
One decision and it is all over, with some protests that are roundly condemned by the media and most public officials, but martial law could and probably would bring with it an armed insurrection.
“martial law could and probably would bring with it an armed insurrection.”
Respect your right to disagree of course. Your statement about armed insurrection due to martial law is exactly what I’m thinking.
No.
So you’re saying, once again vote for whomever the GOP pins a rose on, whomever it is?
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, thrice ...
Not a chance, FRiend. (But don’t worry. The RINO dud will again be picked before my state’s primary.)
No way, just the opposite.....REPUBLICANS HAVE FAILED US.
No more.
How?
